Hit Cap in WotLKFollow

I'm currently over the hit cap by 53. Before I start playing around and spending gold on gear/gem/talent changes to min-max my DPS, I thought it important to ask: will the hit cap be the same in WotLK? If I'm hit-capped now, will I still be hit-capped at level 75? At level 80?

Maybe I ought to not worry about it so much right now. I'm a survival hunter, so maybe just respec to BM (losing the Surefooted talent) would do it for now. I can always respec back to survival after the expansion rolls out.

Thoughts?

The only sure thing about LK is that you will be replacing most of your gear pretty quickly. LK gear will be balanced for LK needs (hopefully).

For now, I recommend you gear and spec for the moment. If you prefer Survival, then gear to that. Nothing wrong with re-speccing to BM either.

LK is months away. Once you start leveling, keeping gear optimized will be an excersize in chaos. I am just going to wear the best pieces I can lay my hands on, and let optimization wait for level 80 and raiding.

Don't worry about WotLK right now. It's still pretty far away and all you're doing is torturing yourself.

Will hit cap be raised? Yes and no.

No: The % of hit required to be capped will likely be the same. It's a mechanic that works fairly well, and I haven't seen any indication that it will change.

Yes: The amount of hit rating required to get one % of hit will be increased. This happens at every single level. All of our stats scale like this.

So to you question, no you will not be hit capped anymore. In fact as has been pointed out you're not really going to be able to optimize much until level 80, so don't worry about it much. I think wow wiki has some stuff on formula's for scaling stats, they might still be valid in the expansion although there are never any guarantees of that.

I'll check with some beta testers I know if they can say anything at all about hitcap.

And WotLK wont be here before end of this year so fix your hit.
Really, 53 over hitcap? how do you do that....?

As far as I know I'm still at the hit cap with my current gear + talents. I haven't had a problem hitting any mobs or bosses. I'll keep checking though.

I am assuming we will want 9% to hit, still.

http://maintankadin.failsafedesign.com/viewtopic.php?t=11557 tells us that the new hit rating conversion is 32.79 points per percent.

9% * 32.79 = 295.11 rating.
However, 295 is too low, so 296 rating is, I believe, the new hit cap at 80. If you have surefooted, you'll only need 197 hit rating.
