I'm not in beta, but I just previewed the (awesome!) Death Knight starter quests. I assume once they're completed, the new DKs could do the Eastern/Western Plaguelands quests easily enough and get up to 58-60...and then they have to head to Hellfire Peninsula.

Is there any kind of bridge quest there that gives the new DKs a motivation to head to Outlands? I mean, it seems like they'd be pretty focused on the Scourge. Even something as simple as the Ebon Order saying, "we want to you go to the Alliance/Horde and convince them we can be allies," then Thrall or whoever saying, "okay, we don't trust you by our side with against the Scourge. Go prove yourselves against the Legion."

If not, maybe one of you beta people could request such a transition be added.

I'm not in beta either, but I've read a lot on the level the DK quests can get you to. Basically, if you kill everything you see along the way to your quests you'll easily be 58. If you run straight to every quest location without killing anything you don't have to you'll(at this point) come up short. At around 57.

I would hope there is some sort of motivation(lore-wise) to make the transition to Outland. I've never read the flavor text for any quest in my life, but I do plan to do so for the expansion and especially the DK quests. I'm trying to turn over a new leaf. =P

Running through every quest in Ebon Hold and Death's Breach will get you to 58 before you hit Eastern plaguelands if you grind a bit in there. I was at 57 with 2 bubbles left on my first DK and I jsut basically blasted through the quests. I took my time on my second one and he was 58 when I left there and is almost 63 now after 3 days in Outlands.

It goes REALLY fast; the quests are easy enough, and the final quest was nice enough to get me to 58.

I'm about to start my initial outland quests, I'll let you know how those go. I'm pretty sure the 60-70 XP has been reduced.

Well, from 58 to 59 I didn't stop to eat once; it's pretty amazing.

Tomorrow I get the joys of running Ramps in a 5 DK group.

That's nice. However the OP was asking for lore and reasons for a DK to go to Outland not about xp and leveling there.

......Oh....

No, no lore reasons to go...

I think....

Blizz employee 1: Wait, the DKs want a lore reason to go to Outland! Quick, think of something!

Blizz employee 2: Another spaceship crashed! In uhm... Netherstorm? Full of zombie aliens...? And the Death Knights have to stop them!

Blizz employee 1: That sounds like a bad power rangers episode. Our fans will love it!

No, currently there is no push or suggestion of any kind.

One of the other things I found a bit disappointing is the last quest in that zone. All through questing you are the Scourge. But during the last quest a series of events happen that are rather impersonal to your character, and you simply "pass out" and become a respectably good horde or alliance.

Kind of like. Ok you're good now. /boot
You're on your own.

I finished all the starter areas, and went from 55-58 in about 2 hours of play (this was my 6th Death Knight).

Then i went to Outland and went to 60 in about 3-4 hours. at level 60 i still had 8 out of 10 pieces of my original food left.

The rune system allows one to litteraly spam damage skills for the duration of a fight. I usually kill a mob with only two weapon swings, rest is yellow damage.

and no, there is no reason whatsoever lorewise to go to Outland.
