Ok, after the next weekend or so, I should have the 150 BoJ to get me some new weapons from the Isle. I am faced with the choice of the two daggers for my current mutilate spec or the two fists and going combat fist. Looking at Theo's talent guide on the RC, it is said that its not combat fist, but fist/sword that works. There are a few reasons I have not gone swords yet:

1. Guild just started ZA, so I won't see the OH from there anytime soon.
2. I don't have a whole lot of time online lately, so I can't get into the heroic easily to get the shifting sword.
3. I hate PvP and really don't want to run BGs over and over to get the S2. I did one EotS the other night and just can't see myself doing it 29 more times, not to mention having to do the others to get the honor since I only got 118 for the 30 minutes I was in the first one.

So, for the TLDR folks, I know swords is the best, will do it if/when I can, but if given the choice between mutilate or combat fists, which would you choose for raiding?

Other options are to get the chest, legs, or belt. Check the armory in my sig to see if any of those would be a bigger upgrade. Right now the speadsheet shows that the legs would be the biggest upgrade, but I am holding out for the skulkers off Netherspite, which would close that gap and make the daggers the best. Chest and belt would have to be done together since I lose DPS by breaking up the Primal Intent set.

Check Spreadsheet to see what will work best. I can tell you from my experience that badge fists are just... awesome. I don't understand why 2xfists won't work to be honest. I use those two fists on my rogue for a long time, and I can tell you, that those fists work in PvE and PvP. Check spreadsheet to see what is better but if I were you, I would get those badge fists as soon as possible, especially if you want to raid.
Those fists are near s3 weapons. It would be really stupid to not get them. Besides, if not those badge fists then what? Daggers? Stupid idea for PvE. No s2 weapons? Then what, Aldor's exalted sword and Latro's in OH? Seriously get badge fists.

Combat fists of course. Combat is just way better than mutilate in raids. Ask Theo if you don't believe me. ;)

What kind of DPS are you pushing out now? I'm a bigger fan of the pants/belt/chest, as it's better than most of the stuff you'll see in ZA, but you're gimping yourself not speccing combat. IF you can't go swords, I'd pick up the fist weapons and switch to combat, and pick up the other BoJ gear when you can..

I would have to get home to pull the numbers off the run from this weekend since it's still up, but I would say that I am averaging between 600-800 DPS, might be breaking that on solid fights like Maiden, Prince, or Nightbane. I have really gotten the Mutilate rotation down so I hardly ever lose SnD, Rupture, and FW, I usually throw an eviscerate in there just to burn 4-5 CPs so I can restart the rotation.

Looking at it from this point of view, I can see where getting the fists would be beneficial since I can use them to PvP which will lead to the honor to get the S2 OH. Should be interesting to learn the ShStep playstyle since Mutilate is totally ingrained in my head.

I was mutilate well into 70. For PVP, there's no contest in terms of playability, mobility, and fun, ShS wins every category. At first it'll be weird not seeing bigger burst damage like a muti crit, but the CP and energy management aspect is awesome. I couldn't go back to mutilate unless a massive overhaul of the spec happened. As for PVE, I would go back, to me it's more fun than spamming SS the entire time, but the dps loss is too much at the level of progression I'm at.

If, and only if, you are going Combat for raiding... then just get the fists. Compared to the daggers you have now it's just no contest. You can find upgrades for the other pieces in ZA while melting troll faces with your badd-***-hands-of-beat-down.

If you wanted to go fist/sword you could run heroic MrT for the Quickening Blade. I loved it as an off-hand and it's not that long a heroic if your group is decent.

The badge belt/chest/legs are, in my opinion, better than anything I've seen through t5 content. Which is why my rogue hasn't rolled on a drop in... damn... I don't know how long... /sigh.

Good luck!

Looks like the overall vote is for the fists and it looks like that is the route I will be going. One last question...Rogue combo will be with the fast OH, right? Seems like the logical choice, but I guess there is a reason they offer a slow OH, I just can't think of it.

For combat builds, and for ever and ever, it's highest average damage main-hand, fastest available off-hand.

Good to know. I have never played either up, so I was not aware there was a time anyone used a slow offhand except a mutilate rogue.

Ok. Speadsheet says the following:

Stay Mutilate, get Blade of Serration and Mutilator = 40.43 dps upgrade.

Respec combat fist, get Isle fists = 30.43 upgrade

So...what does the community feel about the results? Only things that were changed were weapons and spec.

Sounds about right.

But think for a second, the Muti DPS is only if you are behind the target.

The Combat Fist DPS is anywhere on the target. Also with Combat you get Combat Potency.

In most fights you will be able to be behind the target, but its still a little less DPS than its showing.

That was kind of my though process anyway. I am always behind right now, but I know further in progression it is not always possible. My dps goes to crap on trash AoE pulls due to the need to be behind and such. I have gotten it so that when we do things like Curator, the tank will turn him so his back is facing the group, which saves me that extra second or two of running through and turning, but even the sparks are a pain with the position requirement.

I think the main advantage to the fists is that they will be good for PvE and PvP, and that will allow me to go with the S2 sword(s) and that will allow me to be that much better in the long run.
