Level 20 Weapon QuestionFollow

I'm leveling my first shaman. I have made it to level 20, and done a few instance runs to get some nice blue weapons. My question is whether as an enhancement shaman I should use a big old 2 handed axe/mace, or a one handed axe/mace and shield. I've been using the two hander (which is slightly higher dps), but I thought I'd see what the consensus is for leveling.

Edit: Found the shaman guide right there at the top :)

Because this is a forum, and in order to have forumns work you have to have talky talky, I am gonna comment anyway.

I really prefer the two-handed weapon over the one-hander and shield. The only reason I like it better at level 20 is that I have found killing the mob faster is much much better than killing it slowly with less damage. In the first case, you get rid of the opponent, where in the second case you linger. Now if you are only fighting a single mob, then by all means romance the heck out of it before you put it to sleep for the night. If on the other hand you find yourself the main preformer in a ménage-à-trois hammer it home immediately and get the job done.

Some might disagree with me, but from my leveling experience a good two-handed weapon will beat a one-hander before you have dual-wield.

Two-hander until you get dual-wield talent at 40 (or 41 depending whether you take stormstrike first or 43-44 depending on whether you want to max out enh hit talents).

Dual-wield after that.

Thanks all. I'll keep on with the two hander.

As already said, two hander for now is the best bet (with Windfury on it of course). BUT, you're going to find yourself a bit frustrated in the mid 30's as your dps and killing speed seems to drop a bit. Don't get too bummed or pissed off about it cuz at lvl 40-41 (as also mentioned) you get dual wield and stormstrike.
When you hit this point, 'semi-frustrating enhancement shammy' is going to turn into 'HOLY S&^# I'm an unstoppable killing machine where's the next mob I'm gonna take on all 6 at once while filing my nails shammy'!

Also dig about for some good builds. As tempting as it seems, the Shield Specialization skill is pretty much of minimal benefit compared to other areas of point investment. The build in the FAQ:

is a good one, just be sure to fill up the enhance tree first. Also, you may find (if mostly PvE) that at lower levels, the points in Imp Ghost Wolf will serve you a bit better in Improved Lightning Shield, especially if you're in combat with more than 1 mob.
