Now that I, hopefully, have your attention ;) I was wondering if you could tell us a little about your experiences with the Beta! Of particular interest are the tanking changes, but if you know much about the healing and DPS changes those would be cool to know too.

I'll try to come up with some specific questions later, maybe after I know you've seen this ;), but for now I'm in a hurry. Just wanted to get this up before I forgot :D

If there's anyone else here in the beta and have anything to share, feel free!

Hopefully there's other people in the beta that can help out a little more than I can.

True there's no more NDA but I havn't really been playing with the intention of sharing info about it so much as playing to find buggy things. I've been "wasting" tons of time exploring that I could be using to hit the level cap. I'm sure I'll run out of things to do without getting deep into quests and grabbing some more levels eventually though.

If you come up with specific questions lemme know and I'll try my best to answer them when I do poke my head in here.

I have a question about leveling actually:

What kind of xp requirements are we talking about to level from 70-71 etc. Is the gap as huge as the one from vanilla to BC? That was 190k to 440. so if we go with same idea we are talking 1.8 - 2million xp. Which I think is probably ridiculous unless they double xp from kills and quests again. If this information is anywhere else just a link would be cool too :)

Levelling is actually really easy by comparisson to the jump into TBC imo. A couple of intro quests gave in the area of 15-16k exp but it's common to see 20ks and they make a lot more sense to me than the initial TBC quests. I'm not sure exactly how the exp to next level has changed (I'm sure it's increasing) but everything feels like it goes smoother and much quicker. It's a big deal when you consider that I know Hellfire inside and out from both factions (know where to go and what to do to maximize early levelling) and I *still* find Wrath to be smoother.

I havn't hit the phase level cap yet though and have been ****** around quite a bit as I mentioned so I don't know how levelling changes when you get closer to 80. I hope most of the smooth feel translates to live. I can see new players (entirely new) appreciating the pace when they finally hit Northrend, and I can see experienced players shrugging 70-80 off as footnote on the record of new alts after they've been through Northrend once or twice -- whereas 60-70 is, for the raw amount of exp needed and rate of acquision, a pretty significant level-bracket right now.

Dare I say it almost feel that Blizzard wants us to enjoy a little more levelling game, but *really* wants to pick this expansion up at 80. It makes sense to me. TBC had new races and lots of focus on levelling. I can't wait to find out.

are you required to kill 40 Yeti, then go back and kill 40 Greater Yeti, then go back and kill 40 Alpha Yeti, then finally kill the Yeti Lord with a raid group?

One thing that has come to mind has been gear: what are the quest rewards like so far? We all know that Blizzard has wanted to slim down their itemization, so is this the end of spell damage (power) plate for Paly tanks? Or are there still leveling pieces with these attributes on them?

I saw some of the new blacksmithing items on wotlkwiki, actually I think they were linked in another thread, and they are all loaded with strength, stamina, and defense. Just curious if this is basically the norm now.

I havn't come across lots of gear that is clearly an upgrade. Mind you, it would have to replace the best of what was available in TBC so everyone's mileage may vary on that one and Im sure the rewards get better as you go.. that said:

Among the initial quest rewards, it's clear that Paladins are still going to be choosing their plate on similar itemization standards as in TBC. There are LOTS of pieces with raw Spell Power on them. I don't want to say that it's exactly the same though since many of the pieces have large amounts of Strength and Stamina as well as Spell Power. Now.. Strength and Spell Damage in TBC wouldn't make much sense but the itemization works better now. So far, from the limited bit that I've seen it appears that the generalization of gear was more a move so that no one could accuse Blizzard of itemizing retarded combinations that have no value by making EVERY stat of some value. I'm certain that as we get further we'll start seeing that pieces become more generic.

I've also noticed that there are a few early quest rewards that have Spell Power, Crit Rating, and Stamina (plate) on them. By TBC mentality a strange-ish combination (for PvE gear at least) but I'm just not sure yet how it'll fair for Paladins.. Death Knights are another story.

I havn't been able to justify any other weapon either. My Tempest of Chaos looks more appetizing than anything I've seen so far. By the old mentality, a Cudgel of Consecration looks more appetizing than anything I've seen. I havn't taken the time to REALLY look into the mechanics changes (I don't plan on concerning myself with that until either they unlock 80 or the expansion goes live) so I can't say if there really is any value in early quest reward greens.

As far as how fast gear becomes obsolete. I'd say if you have decent beginner's epics (ilvl 110-115ish) the first few quest rewards will be of debatable value.. at least until we work out how the mechanics have really changed.

I'll try to find some links for some of the gear.

EDIT:
Found a nice page @ wowhead that was pretty nice for early upgrades, but with the builds changing all the time I'm not sure how long this info will stay good.
