Coming back from a breakFollow

Hi all!

I took a summer break so I could work and spend time with the girlfriend. But since the summer is just about over and I'm about to head back to my senior year in college (yay!), I've decided to start playing again. Here's my profile:

http://wow.allakhazam.com/profile.html?2514899

Here's the thing though...I have NO idea what I should do and where I should be doing this "stuff" at. There's been a decent amount of changes since I've last played, so I'm not even sure what spec to continue with. Besides that, I don't know what to focus on!

From what I remember, quests are the go-to guy for leveling anymore, especially since they upped the exp for quests. Gear wise, I guess gear plays a big role, but overall, I've heard that it won't make or break me while trying to grind. When I'm running instances and such, yes - gear will do me well. But at my levels and such, I shouldn't worry TOO much. But looking beyond that, should I focus on upgrading what little gear I have?

Yikes - I'm sorry for the "hold my hand" post, but I've been really excited to get back into WoW again, I just don't really know how to start. I really appreciate any help you guys can give! Thanks so much. :)

You are correct, quest grinding is now the best way to level with the upped level of exp on turn in. As trold said, get the quest helper addon, its kinda a big addon, but it will simplify a lot of things for you. say goodbye to constantly minimizing your window to find out where a mob you need to kill is.

also make sure your up to date on the changes, just one important thing to note is that mounts are available at 30, so that should make your life easier.

dont worry about upgrading your gear, you'll get rewards from quests that you can live with, and once you get to outland you will replace all your gear in about 5 minutes. as a mage leveling your really not too gear dependent, so you should be fine with what you have, just make sure to constantly check the class trainer for upgradeable spells.

as for what spec to level as, that debate has been going on forever, but i will start it again - i would say go frost for soloing, but i am sure i will be met with several angry retorts telling me that frost sucks and to go fire. also i just looked at your armory and see that your fire, you can definately level just fine with your current spec.

hope i helped with your questions

ooh and welcome back!

Egads... read the sticky, or a few hundred other posts here. Leveling as arcane is like leveling a priest/pally holy or leveling a hunter as survival. It can be done, but just because you *can* do something doesn't mean you should.

Hmmm, there's a certain irony to that statement...
