I'm not much of a pvp-er so not the best person to give advice. The little I do, I use alot of renew, dispell magic and PoM. So I'd say take points out of holy specialization and put them into improved renew, max out divine fury and perhaps a couple in spell warding. Also consider putting points in absolution.

I've used resilience gems, but then I don't exactly have high resilience so the extra helps.

Im more of a BG pvper when I do choose to go and battle it out, so take my advice with a grain of salt.

Resilience is always a safe bet for gemming. Another one is stam, especially if your pvp gear isnt the greatest. The longer you survive the more healing you can do, so having a larger health pool never hurts.

You may want to gem differently if your doing BG's rather than Arena. I fing that in a BG its alot harder for the otherside to single me out effiectively thus gemming for mana regen or +healing my still work if you dont want to regem/enchant from pve?

The PvP priest I know best gems uses either 5res/7sta gems, or 22healing, and matches socket colors. If you're below 10k unbuffed and 400 resilience, I'd go for straight stam/resil though.

For your spec, you don't want ImpFort or ImpDS, because you're expecting both of them to be dispelled in arena. Focused Power and Spell Warding are both crucial as well. I'd move points from Fort to Absolution (you'll do a TON of dispelling), ImpDS to Focused Power, and Enlightenment to Spell Warding (changing from simply having more health to taking less damage - taking less damage is far more important).

i would say that this factor would be determined by your resilience and + heal.

personally my goals are like this (while this may be different depending on the arena bracket:2/3/5 you intend to do)

1) soft cap resilience - i believe in order to minimize crit chance, the magiv number is 492.5 resilience. more is still good tho as it affects debuff duration and ticks
2) spell hit - at least if youare playing a disc priest, this thing is very important in high brackets. players already spec natural fear resists etc in their builds so, cappin this will help prevent dispels/mass dispels/and fears from resisting. the cap u need to hit is 38
2) plus healing - i have capped the above 2, but my healing is only at +1440 or so which is quite frankly, low. now, i guess if 2's is your bracket, it may be possible to lower your resil to compensate for higher healing but personally, i dont make that sacrifice.

assuming a full set of pvp gear (every pice of gear being a piece with resilience) u can assume the following

there will be 2 red sockets and 5 yellow sockets and 1 meta

assuming you will be gemming the IED meta, you will need to gem 1 red slot with pure healing, 1 red slot with a purple gem, and use yellow slots for either resilience or spell hit (with one green gem to cover teh blue gem requirement of the meta).

that to me, is the only efficient way to allocate gems. there is another option of course with enchanting and that is to encahnt youir spell hit on your head and glove enchant, but personally i just went with healing on gloves and resil on head.

anyway hope that helps
