It's really not new information, and it's still iffy at best.
There are a few things to take into consideration:
-What is your current uptime on FI?
-Do you have enough of your own crit chance to use Lightning Breath to offset the loss of the pet's white damage (this goes for both normal and caster Wind Serpents)?
-Can you take care of a pet that has over 1k less HP than a non-caster pet?
I've read through pages and pages of arguments about the theories, but very few have been able to show very man hard tests. True, there are some tests- as in "Here are my numbers from Hyjal", but there is a pretty high margin of error when dealing with a random number generator.
Personally, I'm not ready to make any kind of jump. I've seen a caster pet in action... Granted, it was just a Sunwell trash run... But the caster WS was doing a good 20 DPS less than my normal WS. I couldn't tell who was putting up more FIs, but I could hardly imagine that it was enough to justify the HUGE HP loss and the significant DPS loss.
For now, though, I have started to ask my mages to put AI on my pet. That extra Intellect can't hurt.
