Starting out in KarazhanFollow

I just hit 70 on my shaman and switched to resto. In about a days played time I've picked up some pvp gear as well as picked up some gear in dungeons. My question is, is 1200 +healing enough to start Karazhan? My mp5 and crit should be fine, it's the +heal im worried about. I checked the sticky but it didn't really have much of a pre-kara gear up list. Any help would be appreciated.

1200 should be enough to start karazhan, you may struggle a bit with finishing it but for the first couple of bosses should be more than fine. I wouldn't attempt to 2 heal it though unless your other healer is over geared.

The benchmark used to be 1000 +heals and 100 m/5... however that was back when taking three healers was common and water shield wasn't buffed. Depending on the tank, 1200 should be fine. You'll probably run into longevity problems if you have a lot of PvP gear, so bring mana potions.

And for raid gear (O-boards):

If your guild has 3 healers on the run 1200+heal is more than enough.

If your only running 2 healers, 1200 is too low unless you have another with 2200+heal chances are you will not be able to pull it off. And most healers at 2200+heal usually wont heal kara anymore, only because they have been there 1000 times. :)

I know we run with 2 healers (both shaman), im at 1900 and the other is at 2000, and we move along just fine. Generally the only fight we have a problem with is maiden. Usually we have a paly tank and he does well at cleansing everyone that our grounding totems dont suck up. We have been trying to get other healers with less +heal into our spots but you know how it is, good healers are hard to find, and even ones with low +heal are hard to find anymore.

Just make sure you do yourself the favor and read up on all of the fights before attempting to go in. There are some good strategies on the net that you can find. There are very few fights where a healer really has to pay attention, but its always good to know what you should be focusing your heals on ahead of time.

This really depends on the gear of your group as well. I ran kara with 2 healers a bunch of times. The Shaman had 1350+heals and Me (drood) had 1700 + heals. We ran just fine, only had a 3rd healer sub in for a dps on Prince for that evil phase two.

On that note, if you're a noob to healing, you're gonna want to get some good practice in. Both myself and the shaman healing kara weren't on our first Rodeo. :-)
