Our AP calc. is about to get changed...check it out

Sorry about that, it should of been in the patch notes. The idea is for DPS mail (with AGI and AP) to be viable for both Hunters and Shaman. Strength is mostly now only a stat for Death Knights, Warriors and Ret Paladins.

interesting....discuess

There is nothing bad and everything good about this. And now hopefully we can finally stop hearing people complain about nothing.

That's good, there is ZERO str on mail it seems, hopefully now we can make use of that high agil/ap mail more so than before.

This actually could in a sense be a buff. While there will be more fighting with hunters, there is little to no strength on most mail gear. There ought to be an increase in our AP now that we can use hunter gear as well.

You're fighting with hunters, but you're no longer fighting with rogues/kitties/ret pallies/warriors, which all use leather as their primary DPS armor type.

What...? Seriously?

This change can only be seen as good for shamans. Now you'll be able to use every mail drop, and not just some of them.

Yeah. Fury warriors have been using quite a bit of rogue leather in raids for a long time.
Fury warriors and Ret pallies will get the armor they need in the expansion, sharing it with Blood and Unholy Death Knights.
Shamans will get more out of the hunter armor that they already use, and no longer will it even be called hunter armor.

Bad fury warriors, you mean. They don't stack hit like rogues do.

There's plenty of DPS plate in the current game Blizzard actually (gasp!) itemized so that ret/fury/arms had gear that they could use to DPS that would be their primary armor class.

Let's take a look at the paladins/warriors in my guild, who's 1/6 in SWP.

If one of our two ret pallies was actually ret at the moment, I could show that they're in full plate too.

Either way, no, fury warriors don't generally use rogue leather. Bad ones do.

Your Fury Warriors (and Retadins, although their gearing is somewhat different due to hit-capping) are either retards who can't evaluate gear choices or there simply hasn't been enough of the items to drop for them to pick up the leather upgrades. While it's far from the primary armor type, I'm currently using three pieces of leather on my Fury Warrior (4/6 SP, P2 Muru).

Specifically; the Sunmote crafted leather gloves (Gloves of Immortal Dusk) annihilate the plate ones (Hard Khorium Battlefists), the leather legs from Felmyst (Leggings of the Immortal Night) beat the plate ones from Brutallus (Felfury Legplates), and the Cursed Vision of Sargearas from Illidan blows away any Plate helmet until you're killing KJ.

Additionally Enhancement will get attack power from Intellect now. Despite being mostly geared for Strength, Beta Shamans have reported a significant rise in attack power due to the changes. The downside is they have also reported a loss in crit% (we're going to get less crit per agility to correspond with the stat changes). With the correct setup, we should see an overall improvement in stats.

Apparently Blizzard are planning to change the stats on Enhancement set pieces when WotLK goes live, so the change over shouldn't be too abrupt. It might be an idea to start collecting Agility gems though.

i wonder how much simpler the itemization is gonna get, with spell power doing both dmg and healing and haste rating affecting spell and attack already....

Retadins stuck in Plate only is usually a symptom of a strict looting regime. My guild at one time held that you could not roll on loot that wasnt your primary armour type, and even though that has since been dropped people still habitually ignore low-armour items with better stats.

Should you bite the bullet and gear a Plate wearer in essentially Rogue gear, you'll see a reasonable rise in crit and hit at the same AP level. My Retadin (when she is Ret...) has some Rogue pieces simply because they outclass any 'normal' DPS Plate gear.

The only downside is AP stats don't benefit from Kings or Divine Strength, but ho hum.
