Huntard vs. Mage - PwnedFollow

#1 Aug 02 2008 at 12:23 AM Rating: Sub-Default
So I am a level 59 Hunter
My friend a 60 Frost Mage.

We duel. I get pwned. 4-0. Whenver i duel anyone else, i pretty much always win. He casts Ice Barrier, and he has Water Elemental. I'm thinking of just freezing the elemental, then go all out dmg on him.. It's hard when hes straight up hitting me and I can't do jack about it. I was thinking what about a caster pet? He nova's and my pet is useless. Any suggestions would be awesome. I would really like to show him i'm not a n00b and I wanna know for future how to own pretty much anyone i get in a fight with. =/

Please help!

Yeah, good luck with that.

Caster pets are just normal pets with worse stats.

Go go big red kitty.

In reality this fight (all fights) will get much easier once you get steady shot. Just plow into the mage, his casting time will be so slowed he'll have to use only instants. Steady shot will make the biggest difference in this though since it will almost double the number of arrows going out.

Yeah so.... get to 70 (both of you) and retry this little experiment, because dueling at >60 is srs business amirite?

I think everyone missed his point about caster pets. He seemed to have had in mind a pet with some sort of ranged ability, vice a straight-up melee dps'er. When he referred to frost nova I think he meant how his pet would be stuck in place afterward until the freeze broke and by then it was likely too late and he was probably dead or near-dead. Hunters are kind of at a disadvantage against mages in pvp if they don't get the drop (like when dueling). A quick intimidate followed by Big Red Kitty would be great against a mage off-guard (until he blinks). A mage who's ready will drop that frost nova and make fluffy a sitting duck while he kites the nearly defensive hunter (that concussion shot not-withstanding). Basically PVP vs a mage relies primarily on his squishiness, and that only works with surprise. A hunter with neither may rifle off a concussive blow, a wing clip, or a viper's sting and maybe a mana tap from belfs but in the end you don't have enough full stuns in your inventory to kill a mage who is ready. Unfortunately there's next to nothing keeping him from crippling you into almost nothing before and leaving you just plain frustrated. If you're in an overmatched battle where you can two-shot the mage it has little skill required. This is just my analysis of the op's question.

It's srs bsnz, ppl, srsly.

Get with the program. Smiley: rolleyes

Part of the reason why your Mage buddy wins is due to having all the level 60 spells at hand while you're stuck at level 59. I'm curious why you have issues with the Mage class, though. If you're using a Marksmanship build, surely you have Silencing Shot, right? And if you're a Beast Master, surely you have The Beast Within?

The elemental is a *****, especially once the Mage gets massive +spell damage, but focusing on the Mage is advisable. Use Rapid Fire and Arcane Shot whenever possible and make sure to keep Viper Sting on him.

With Serpent's Swiftness and Cobra Reflexes, your pet should be a hit 'n' crit machine. I'm almost tempted to activate my account so I can play my Hunter again. Almost.

I deactivated my EU subscription a couple of weeks back. I think the account froze yesterday or something like that. I'm currently playing on my US account. All my high levels are on the EU account, though, including my Hunter, which is why I mentioned activating my account again.

Why would you play on a US account if all of your high levels are on your EU account? Not to mention that you live in Denmark.
