Theo...trying to pull up you rogue armory and all im getting is combat sword spec 0/34/27, which actually looks pretty good. But i noticed its a pretty old spec and wondered if you had actually switched to a mut. build as you had previously planned on doing??..thanks.

That's not a combat spec, that's a hybrid spec.

Specifically, VARP (Vitality/AR/Prep).

I've been using fist/dagger with it for the SS glyph. Swords are lackluster considering I have 100+ DPS fist/dagger weapons.

for the 70 Mutilate spec, may I ask why you put in a full 5 point relentless instead of putting 2 points in opportunity (since it helps increase mutilate damage)?

If you're talking about mine - I don't understand I've got 5/5 and 2/2. I changed it a bit as well, leaving focused attacks for 3/3 MoD

Wait, what's 60% of rogue damage?

Oh, right. White damage. 20% to mutilate damage works out to be much less than 5/5 Relentless in my testing.

So Theo, is this the best non-dagger PvP build right now?

IMO, yes, for burst teams. It has the most survivability, best mobility (ShS is weak post-patch) for the kind of damage it has. 0/18/43 is the other spec I'd do (Imp Sprint is almost required after the nerf to ShS), but it lacks damage.

With the move of Relentless Strikes, VARP is a lot more powerful than HARP ever was.

And I take it back, I've been playing VARP swords, and it's pretty nice. That's considering I have 103 DPS swords vs 100 DPS fists.

I see that u guys are all sleeping together..

but you didnt any answer my questions about the previous build (Master)theo mention. There is no camo to help with speed while in stealh. why is that?

unless u guys dont think its important and will go with dps instead. I have found that I am kicking some serious *** lately.

But its only common sense to respond to a post, when someone ask u a question.. IMO its rude not to.. But if you dont, its ok.
I can handle it. Im not 12 like most of you guys are.

Sorry I dont have any corny pictures to go along with this post.

Finally a response!!

"There have been threads and posts talking about the WotLK talents, and what spec people are using.

Let me say this straight out after discussion among the rogues and extensive theorycrafting on the beta forums:

Mutilate will be the new raid spec as of right now (9/17/08) if nothing changes in the rogue talents if nothing changes before 11/13/08 (WotLK release).

This is due to Cut to the Chase (CttC) allowing a 5e/5r rotation, keeping up SnD.

# Mutilate
70: 51/5/5
80: 51/13/7

# Combat
70: 5/51/5
80: 15/51/5
NB on combat: right now, fist/dagger (1.4 speed) is seeming to do more damage than sword/sword in beta. For more info check EJ.

# Vulajin's WotLK Spreadsheet

As for Sub, you shouldn't be speccing Sub to level. Combat and Mutilate are far more efficient."

Above was your new Spec for the Mutilate Roque Build, after the new patch.

However I have tried this on several occasions, and since I do not have Fleet Footed or Stealth any longer, I am slow as hell. In PVP, I can barely move. I do not think this is a perfect build, speaking from experience. You previous build, before the new patch was excellent.

However, my question is, since you are now responding, is what points would you replace to put into Fleet Foot or Stealth? Which is needed!! You have also removed Kidney punch which is also odd.

Your thoughts. thx

That is a PvE build, obviously. It's not a PvP build.

This is a PvP build.

MoD has no bearing on speed in stealth.

You should not need MoD to get openers anymore. You should not need Camo. It's great filler, but it's not a very good talent otherwise.

If you think speed in stealth matters, you don't really know much about rogue PvP.

Oh I did a raid the other night, and the Spiteblade dropped, in Kara, of course. I specially use daggers, but
I guess since I won the roll, should I use this in PVP also? or since it is slow, I should just keep if for raiding?

Thx.

Ahhhh I suck at creating builds. I just realized that I've got 5/5 in imp. poisons. I hate not having time to focus on this sh*t anymore. Thanks for passivley pointing out my f*ckups.

Hey Theo,

Was wondering how important vile poisons is for a pvp mut build. I thought vile was picked more for the dispel resistance rather than the extra poison damage. Since wound poison doesnt stack anymore how important is the dispel resist now? Just wondering if we can spend those 3 pts in vile somewhere else...not sure where else though :P Anyways, just wondering.

There's no other good place to spend the points.

You should be taking points out of Ruthlessness/Vigor/Imp EA/Blood Spatter before Vile, as resisting a dispel on Mind Numbing/Wound/Crip can be a clutch resist.

Yeah pretty obvious after you read this article.

http://www.wowinsider.com/2008/10/08/encrypted-text-trunks-of-the-trees-assassination-and-combat/
75 percent of Rogues across the World go in a Subtley. And I dont see that changing even with the new release.

I always knew I liked being an assassination Roque. But I must say, we are a rare breed.
I am always getting comments through out the game. "You Moron, you F*Ked up your talents" But I enjoy
playing with these talents, perhaps I will change them for a different style of play, only time will tell.

Maybe you dont play enough Theo to hear those comments.

No more condescending remarks ok ? You arent getting paid for this information, so relax.
Afterall, its just a game.

75% of rogues used to be Sub.

The guy that writes that article is a moron. Combat as the new raiding spec?

Laughable. Mutilate trashes combat.

Stop going to wowinsider for your info; it's a horrible website.
