Ok, so I've been asked by my guild to "try" the arms spec and see how/if it changes things for dps. I'll basically be sitting in the place of a ret pally in kara and za with some of our lower geared members (mostly because the only non-tanking gear i have is pretty darn lame!!)

So, I'm sitting with the following (no armory as I didn't log out in my stuff, and generally won't, I'll be doing the respec for raid, respec back dance for a bit)

Furious Gizmatic Goggles
Shattered Sun Pendant of Resolve
Ragesteel shoulders
Royal Cloak of Arathi Kings
Vengeful Gladiator's Plate Chestpiece
Vindicator's Plate Bracers
Bonefist Gauntlets
Red Belt of Battle
Vanguisher's Legplates
Vindicator's PLate Greaves
Band of Determination
Violet Signet of the Great Protector (I honestly don't have anything else to put here!)
Alchemist's Stone
Abacus of Violent Odds
Gorehowl
Gyro-Balanced Khorium Destroyer

I have an AP of 1372 with the gems i have
I have a Hit Rating of 134 and Expertise of 35 and a crit chance of 20.4

I am sporting the improved slam 33/28/0 build with Axe specialization

So ... what can I do to easily improve this to test out what I can bring to a raid? I know I'm a long way from being ready for t5 content in this get-up, but it's the best I can put together.

What should I be working on to improve to give me the quickest and biggest lift to help us see if (a) this is something we need on our raid roster and (b) if I have any desire to fill this role :)
Am i right in believing that the rotation is:

auto / slam / ms / auto / ww / auto / slam / ms / auto / slam / free ?

What tricks of the trade should I develop? What are the things I don't know that I don't know?

generally speaking, sword spec will provide more dps and rage generation than an axe. if you can get ahold of Despair from Kz or grind honor for the S2 sword, then do so. if you are an orc, the axe racial will benefit you slightly with expertise, but sword spec still usually wins out unless you have a very high crit rate to help combat rage starvation. even with 40%+ crit you can still run into some rage starvation issues.

always try to have a shaman in your group for windfury.

if rage > 85 (enough rage for MS+WW+slam) you may want to queue Heroic Strike. also keep in mind that Hamstring can proc sword spec extra attacks, but only HS/cleave/white attacks proc Windfury.

you may or may not have to tweak your rotation to have priority with instants depending on the nature of the encounter. some 2h arms dpsers at EJ report higher dps when switching to instants priority in fights involving more mobility.

download DocsSwingerClub. good swing timer.

get more crit. as an axe spec you should have 35%+ crit easily.

keep in mind that your personal 2h arms dps + Blood Frenzy's contribution to raid dps must > your personal dps from dual wield fury to make your role viable in the raid. generally speaking, the more physical dpsers you have in the raid and the more personal dps they do, the larger BF's contribution will be to raid dps.
