What race?Follow

STOP! I'm not asking people to choose the race for my new hunter for me. He's already a Dranny and I'm very pleased with him.

No, I want to know what race you like best, for whichever reason.

I chose my Dranny because I really don't like alliance male models, and the male dranny was the only one I could stand. Not perfect by a long-shot, but night elves? Ugh! Their tall and wobbly. Dwarves are cool, I could be friends with a dwarf, but I just can't get behind playing one. I didn't choose a female because every single other one of my alliance characters are stinking females!

Also Draenei Drannies get their heal over time that is *great* for low level hunters before you get a pet. Its going to make farming nice too. You always end up taking a little damage once in a while and after a while it builds up and you have to rest, but this character will have a HoT to remedy that! Too much coffee!

So what do you like, racewise? My horde hunter is a blood elf. Male.

I started playing long long LONG before TBC came out, so my basic option was... Female Nightelf. I am actually a girl (NO WAI, RIGHT?!), so naturally I wanted something pretty.

And I didn't want to play horde because at the time there were Trolls, Orcs or Cows- none of which are pretty in any sense of the word. If Undead could be hunters, I SO would have gone with that... But *sigh*

Since TBC, I've rolled a Belf hunter on my friends' server. She's alright. I like how some of the gear fits Belf chicks better than Nelf chicks. But overall, I still prefer my pretty purple elf.

I'm actually pretty happy that I rolled Alliance. It seems as though everyone I know IRL plays horde, so I have a good excuse to not do a server transfer. :)

Race independent of class, list one:

Forsaken. The new young nation, struggling with their own creation and survival. They've got powerful racials and powerful lore. Not to mention that my characters can be Hell Incarnate without breaking character.

Night Elf. Ancient and bloody awesome lore. They are far more... badass than any other alliance race, especially when you consider their actions in the past. Noble, yes. Self serving, hell yes. The saviours of Azeroth? More than once. Night Elves are quite possibly the coolest race besides Forsaken due to their lore.

Troll. Jamaican, dude.

Orc. Oh come on, they are great! Especially if you play them as dumb as a certain Baldur's Gate character. You point, I punch.

Draenei. Second best Alliance race. Good sense of humor and they have equal rights for men and women. Who do you think was driving their spaceship when it crashed?

From bottom up:

Gnomes -> Everything else. I bloody hate gnomes in WoW.

Orcs, best. hunter. race.
extra pet damage and a 3rd trinket for PvE, stunresist for PvP.

On ally side, draenei for PvE. that +1% hit for you and pet helps.
For PvP, dwarves. Nothing beats removing poisons. (as far as ally hunter races go anyway)

orcs in horde - flavor! I've always played orcs in warhammer (both fantasy and 40k), and wow-orcs are similar to those, so the choice was easy... i just need to level one up for wotlk, so that i can have a speed freek ork, riding a RED motorbike (red ones go faster, after all) ;)
dwarves in alliance - because i would NEVER play a pointy-eared thinass creature that would die of alcohol overdose after second beer... bald alcoholic with a big gun <3

I chose a Dwarf because I really wanted one and was so anxious to play that I didn't install TBC until I hit level 40 ish and realized I was coming up on outlands w/o the expansion. I'm very happy with my dwarf, however that being said I wish I would have started with the TBC disc and gone with a draenei. I started one on a PvP server and I enjoy the leveling there better then in the snow (Dun M something).

My least favorite is Nelfs and Tauren. Nelfs because I absolutely hate their starting area. I have 2 Nelf druids and cringe everytime I play it. Thats why neither is past 16 yet altho my highest is almost out so no mas there. And cows just cause I think the animation of them shooting guns is weird got 2 levels then erased it and made it into a drood.

I like dwarves for hunters.
That poison removal racial is wonderful. That and Omen make the Moroes fight easy. The usefulness of poison removal in PvP goes without saying.
Find treasure racial is handy occasionally.
Short enough that the camera doesn't get blocked by beams and other stuff in buildings, caves, etc. I've got a tauren on another server. The camera gets pushed around or blocked regularly. That's annoying. Short enough I can hide in bushes during PvP. They don't see me pew pewing.

I can't believe you all missed the point here.
Male Draenei are EASILY the best race for Hunters, simply because of the Terminator 2(TM) animation of the reloading (the scene where he drives the bike and shoots gates with the shotgun).

BTW, Yaaran is male Draenei. (though I chose that quite randomly, only later did I see that :) )

In my humble opinion, the Trolls, Orcs and Tauren are by far the most theme fitting Hunters. Each are very tribal which lends very well to the very much primal aspect of being a hunter.

Though, once I am able to play again, I plan to make a Blood Elf hunter for theme reasons. Trying to shake the magic addiction that many of his race suffers from, he has turned to the ways of Beast Mastery in an attempt to reconnect to his Druidic heritage. Though, I'm not sure what his token pet should be, as I try to pick them off the racial mount. Wish we could tame Hawkstriders as Tallstriders are straight up ugly. Birds of prey are another option, even though you cannot tame anything other than owls until what, the upper 60's?

For me, Carrion Birds fall prey to the same thing as Tallstriders... most are ugly until the very later levels. Guess it will have to be a wind serpent. Just hope they rebalance those stats.

My favorite Horde race is Orc so when it came to making a Hunter I went with Orc. Now that I raid it is nice having some powerful racials. Tauren are just too big and Trolls aren't bad, I just prefer Orcs.

The only Alliance races I like are Gnome and Dwarf so if I made an Alliance Hunter it'd be Dwarf. The only thing is Shadowmeld would be very tempting, but probably not tempting enough.

Shadow Meld + aimed shot was awesome for pvp before the nerf. That changed and my character hasn't. Male NE
