Your 1st priority should be reading up on what dps rotation to use/spec, than comes gear/ench/gems. I see too many epic geared rogues that do terrible because they simply do not know proper dps rotation. WIth that lack of knowledge, those same people tend to make wrong choices in gear/gems/enchs/spec.

You could be in blues but if you know what you are doing you'll still be an asset. Rogues/mages/hunters can somewhat get away with being a bit under geared in heroics. However tanks and healers are not so easy. Especially tanks.

No offense, but this is not very good advice. Any t4 raiding rogues (gear appropriate) that think they can evasion tank the brutes, even for a second, are fooling themselves, y'all ain't that leet. Besides, stacking enough stam to survive a hit in that gear range would take away from +hit and +agi that you need for raiding. Trust me, it's best to lower your DPS and live than anything else. Hug the butt and don't win the game of Omen. ;)

This is good advice. However if you're above 35% dodge you can get away with evasion tanking 95%(35dodge+50evasion+5parry+5base miss rate) of the time, just don't wait to get smacked before popping evasion. In heroics when not using a lot of cc and a non pally tank, i'll often pop bf intentionally to agro the secondary target to take pressure off the healer. The trick here is not to target the focus but the secondary so you know exactly when to pop evasion to maximize your dodge time. This also allows you to stun(if stunnable) the mob thats agro'd to you so you can vanish+cs safely without the mob heading to the healer if the tank+rest of the dps hasn't finished with the 1st mob. If they have then the tank simply taunts the mob off you or waits for your vanish.

Minimum, sure. Personally I'd say more for the brutes (the casters maybe not so much). But the point is that rogues just entering t4 content won't be close to that. I'd hate for someone on their first run at HKM to think they can handle the brutes themselves after reading these threads... might get messy.

I have evasion tanked Nalorakk for almost 30s, which was enough to finish him off. I have also tanked some of the heroic bosses (one even from 30% to a kill), and offtanked Gruul for *some* time. Gruul brutes are not a problem.
I have over 90% avoidance with Evasion up, and over 100% if I add ghostly strike to it.
It's quite fun to see the reaction of the raid afterwards.
But the trick is to know when to pop evasion - if you are one-shotted it's a bit too late.

Oh yeah? Well, my hunter Deterrence tanked an Abomination to Jaina, and a Coilskar Soothsayer when someone's sheep wandered into the trap meant for her.
