Fine, if they're just going to keep showing me healing meters in which I am dead last in healing, I'll just stop casting Prayer of Mending. That'll learn 'em. Smiley: nod

No Prayer of Mending!!!!

I am a newb... what does that mean? Also what are you talking about with healing bars?

Also... your Avatar suggests that you should be playing Warlock... just a thought...

On healing meters, Prayer of Mending attributes the healing done to the healee rather than the healer. Last night I had an easy run that the tank outleveled and outgeared, so I healed most of it with PoM and Renew, resulting in me only having 64% of the healing (so not really last, I was exaggerating for effect).

Huh? Are you talking about another thread?

Recount will properly record your PoM healing. But if you really want to top the healing meters, just keep taking off and putting on your stamina gear then casting GH1 between trash pulls.

Oh, you like that idea? If you're really feeling ambitious, find yourself some super high stamina weapons. Write a cast sequence macro that removes them on the first click, replaces them on the second click, and casts binding heal on the third click. Spam that macro non-stop in all trash encounters. Your healing meter will go through the roof.

Kind of like padding the damage meter on trash pulls to Moroes and between Moroes and Maiden by spamming Holy Nova? My brother just keeps mumbling "cheater" whenever we're working that trash. Keeps grumbling something about Enhancement Shamans and not liking AoE situations. Smiley: rolleyes

Sad part is? Right now, I routinely pass one of our Hunters during that section ... even on those nights where we're running 2 tanks, 2 healers and 6 DPS.

Thanks Teacake!

I hope you took my Warlock jab for what it was, nothing but a silly comment.

I meant healing meters... I guess you are running a program to keep track of how much you have healed... I need to get something like that so that I can figure out wtf I am doing on my priest.

Oh yeah and... The Adams Family >>>>> The Munsters just in case anyone thought otherwise.

Oh, I was totally kidding re: the warlock thing.

I actually don't have a healing meter, and TBH I don't put much stock in them. I measure my performance by whether everyone I was supposed to be healing lived and I didn't end up unnecessarily OOM. Looking at overhealing is good for efficiency but even that you don't want to overdo too much - better to land the heal when it isn't needed than not land it when it is.

But no matter my pretended indifference, if someone else who came has a meter, and they put up the numbers, I look at them. Smiley: wink

My recount only counts healing during combat. Is there a switch that I can make to have it track out of combat healing? I could totally improve my healing by healing the walocks who life-tap between pulls. LOL

Gotcha, I kinda do that now, but I would like to know a bit more about the UI mods as I don't have any. Are there any that a priest absolutely should have? I used to main heal the endgame bosses in FFXI on a White Mage and I never needed any UI mod for that. Do you think I will need it for WoW?

This is really a matter of personal preference. Some people are running a hundred mods (or more?), some people don't run any. There are a number of healing mods; the two most popular seem to be Healbot and Grid. I've been a big fan of Healbot but recently changed to using mouseover macros instead - you may want to check out the thread "Cancel Casting" which I think is still on the first page to see some people's thoughts. In any case I'd say it's worth downloading both some lazy Sunday afternoon (you know, with all that unlimited free time I'm sure we all have) and checking them out to see if either fits your style or not.

Also useful for anyone doing instances is a threatmeter such as Omen.

The Wiki here has a basic overview of mods, and PsiChi has written an excellent guide on customizing your UI.

As said, Recount applies PoM to the right person, it's wonderful for keeping track of how different people heal in 25-mans.

Healing meters can be good, they just need an event bigger grain of salt than damage meters. Healing assignments and the setup of the fight have huge impacts on them, as well as random factors (like getting airbursted 4 times in a row on Archi); mostly I use them to see who people are focusing their heals on, and what spells they're using, rather than how much healing they've done.
