Fade macroFollow

Hello there,

In PvE, I use (my highest rank) fade to release aggro. In PvP I use fade to make dispelling my buffs a little harder. Thing is, I don't want to needlessly waste mana and as such I intent to use rank 1 fade in PvP. And therefore I want to create a macro which uses my highest rank fade in PvE, and rank 1 in PvP. I just don't know how to.

I wonder if it's possible for the macro to check whether I'm PvP(/arena) enabled or disabled, that would be good enough for me.

Any ideas?

i dont think theres any macro commands that can differ between BG and PVE (like indoors/outdoors).

Why not just fill your #2 or 3 or 4 bar for pvp?

EDIT: if you're a clicker you CAN make macro commands to each mouse click (left click for rank 1, right click for rank x)

The thing is I already have that. For some reason I don't have a bar 3 or 4 (unless you mean the extra hotkey bars), I thought they were removed in some patch. Bar 1 has my healing spells and bar 2 has my DPS spells, and both have fade on it.

Since I'm not a clickers, how about key modifiers with hotkeys? At the moment I've got rank 1 AOE and max rank AOE put together, with max rank AOE bound to mouse 5 and rank 1 AOE bound to shift+mouse 5. Perhaps I could turn that into a macro?

Do you mean like binding:

/cast Holy Nova
/cast [modifier:shift] Holy Nova(rank 1)

to mouse button 5? You can do the same thing with fade.

That's what I meant, it doesn't work though, shamefully. The modifiers apperantly only work when you actually click the button. So with that macro you conjured up, mouse 5 does max rank holy nova, shift+mouse 5 does nothing, clicking it does max rank holy nova and shift+clicking it does holy nova (rank 1). Or at least, it should, at the moment it never casts holy nova thanks to the lack of [modifier:none] or such in the first line.

So back to fade... is there any other way I could make it see the difference between pvp and non-pvp?

Currently, this isn't available. It's not one of the conditional's made available to us. Your best bet is 2 macros (Max rank in one and Rank 1 in the other) with one bound to Key and the other bound to Shift+key. Otherwise, the macro given above is the most efficient way to do it (given that you need to click on it).

I'd advise you to use Bongos or Dominos or even the default interface to set up two action bars that you swap depending on whether you're doing PVE or PVP. (This is usually done with the autoswapping stance and form bars, but you can do it with manually swapped bars too.) Set up one with Fade 1 and the other Fade X, with the same key bound to each. You could set up other keybind variants as well, like a PVE trinket on one bar and your PVP Medallion on the other.

The problem is that I've already got 2 bars in use for healing/dps. Something like that might work but it'd require me to completely remap my interface, and I'm not too much a fan of interface mods anyway. Thanks for the tip, but it looks like I'll be stuck to either constantly replacing the ranks or using max rank in PvP.

How about this, then: set up a /castsequence macro that casts Inner Fire on the first press and Fade rank 1 on the second, with a reset time of, say, 10 seconds. You won't need to refresh Inner Fire that often in PVE, so it will always be a Inner Fire button there. In PVP, you can spam the button to throw up Inner Fire...always a good idea...then rank 1 Fade to buffer it.

Alternately you can have it in a /castsequence macro right after a self-shield.

Hmm, that works kind of odd in PvP though. It'd require me to reset inner fire before casting the fade... I generally keep my inner fire on 20 charges whenever possible, so resetting it to follow it up with fade would pretty much negate the mana bonus rank 1 fade gives me since I'm probably needlessly resetting a 20 charges inner fire.

I have to think about the shield idea, that sounds interesting, allowing me to put up shield and rank 1 inner fire on just another push.
