Latest round of buffs/nerf!Follow

A new build was released recently. Changes include:

Seals last 2 minutes now.

Divne shield and Divine Protection are on different cooldowns but forbearance lasts 3 minutes.

Divine protection now only reduces damage by 50% and it no longer drops agg! (Pally shield wall on a 5 minute cooldown)

Holy is getting an evocate called Divine plea. It restores 50% of total mana over 6 seconds.

New ability called Scared Shield: Each time the target takes damage they gain a Sacred Shield, absorbing 500 damage. They cannot gain this effect more than once every 6 seconds. Lasts 30 Seconds.

Eye for an Eye was changed. Now all crits will transfer 20% of their damage to the caster!

**Edit!

The Sheath of light AP>Spell power conversion was fixed. It does allow AP to effect +healing now.

Improved BoM also got a buff. It is now +50%.

These are awesome changes. I love it.

Questing mana efficiency just shot through the roof with a 2 min seal and judgments that don't consume the seal!

We have a priest bubble now. Excellent.

EDIT - Did they announce Shield of Righteousness previously? The one that is essentially a Shield Slam. If so, then I missed it last time. Nice Prot ability :)

Yeah shield of righteousness has been out for a while. All in all I'm very happy with the direction things are going.

yep, i have some mixed feelings about the newest changes. 2 min seals, SoL spellpower affecting healing, divine plea, the new divine protecton, protection and shield having different cooldowns all are great changes i think. i would have to join the SoL healing group now. the extra spellpower will be a bigger boost due to higher healing coefficients than it even looks like based on current +heals.

on the other hand, 3 min forbearance, the new art of war and righteous vengeance, i'm not so much a fan of. i suppose with DP and DS being on seperate CD timers i can understand and live with the 3 min forbearance. the new art of war and righteous vengeance are probably good for pvp, but i'm not a big fan of the change for PVE.

Yea this is pretty exciting for us pallies ...especially compared to what other classes are going through. Sacred Shield looks like itll be a cool spell to use when things get hot and heavy. My other toon is a mage and I will tell you that I am way happier with the way things are going to be for the pally than my mage post WotLK...

I'm not happy with the change to righteous vengeance. I was under the impression it previously increased all critical damage by 15%, but now it looks like it increases critical damage by 25% for judgements* and divine storm*

ARt of War nerfed. I am not doubting Ramera, but can I have a source for the seals?

I read the Beta Forums! There are like 10 posts with various information about it. Also, judgements seem to be on the GCD now. When you think about it, its really not a big issue since they last 2 minutes and dont get consumed anymore.

hey pallys, quick question for you about beta abilities. did i read correctly that judging seals will no longer comsume them? as in you can get the judgement effect and still keep the effect of the actual seal?

i'm sorry if this has been covered in the pally forums already, which i imagine it must've been. i havent been keeping up with any of the beta abilities except the hunter ones cuz my main is a hunter. i do have a lvl 20 pally alt though, so this is interesting to me.

thanks in advance for responses

http://wotlkwiki.info/index.php/Paladin

Under the general information section you can find a detailed description of the Seal/Judgement changes. In short: Seals are no longer consumed, but the Judgement effect is based off of the new "Judgement of X" spells and not what Seal you have up.

EDIT: typo.

Yes - this is the case. Maulgak gave more details :)

In general, this is a huge buff to mana efficiency while grinding. The seals will also last for 2 mins! That is just phenomenal.

- Blizz has not said any thing about the GCD added recently to Judgements. If it is intended it is really a big nerf because it was our only abilitie free from GCD and that was great for dps or tanking rotations, and an amazing thing for holy paladin in wotlk (they would be able to gain haste without triggering the GCD);
- Judgements are NOT seals... Seals last 2 minutes. The purposes of judgements are to; apply a debuff on the target / deal damage relative to current SEAL, every 10 seconds (or 8 through talents). With so many new attacks, would ever a ret or protec paladin play with improved judgements if they cost 1.5 sec GCD?

PS: if someone wants to calculate the perfect dps or mono-tanking rotation (judgments don't really matter for pure aoe tanking), I haven't done it but I am guessing GCD on judgement will be really a pain...

I don't think it's going to be so terrible actually, the entire point of taking Judgement off the GCD was because you had to cast a Seal first; that made a fairly weak instant nuke cost two GCDs instead of one. Now you don't have to reapply your Seal every time you want to cast a Judgement, as long as you have a Seal active you can Judge as many times as you like.

Therefore, you are saving a GCD, bringing you back to the TBC cost of 1.5sec per Judgement, but most importantly saving you a mouseclick and therefore command time, as well as cutting down mana cost (I presume, anyway) and saving you from lost SoC/SoB procs if you melee swing before you can re-apply your Seal.

Overall I don't think it's a nerf at all, the only thing it stops you doing is nuking immediately after a Crusader Strike for burst, but since we have another instant Strike to use these days I don't think that's such a terrible thing.

Gah, this sounds like its drastically increasing the number of things I need to put in my toolbars :(

EDIT: If I'm reading the wiki information correctly, judgement of justice will do exactly what judging a seal previously did--consume the seal to unleash its effect--in addition to reducing run speed. The other two judgements will not do that.

EDIT EDIT: No, I'm confused. I understand now. Judging unleashes the seal effect without consuming the seal. All three judgments do that.

It should. Just think of it like the CD of the re-Seal. Only now, it's the CD of the judgement instead of the CD of the re-seal (since you won't need to re-seal). The only time you get a double CD is if you are changing seals after a judgement (i.e. SotC to SoR, or something like that), or if you want to Seal/Judge imeediately (now you have to wait 1.5 seconds to judge). But it's only by 1.5 seconds in those particular cases, so it's not too bad. Every consequent judgment will make things easier, and cost less mana. It should balance itself out in the long run.

New changes to the patch notes for Paladins:

  • Consecration now scales with attack power and spell power.
  • Divine Protection now reduces all damage taken by 50% and increases time between attacks by 100%.
  • Exorcism mana cost reduced and now scales with attack power and spell power.
  • Eye for an Eye now reflects 10/20% damage from all critical hits.
  • Fanaticism now increases chance to critically hit by 5/10/15/20/25%.
  • Forbearance duration increased to 3 minutes.
  • Improved Blessing of Might increased to 10/20/30/40/50%.
  • Judgement has been replaced with 3 new spells; Judgement of Light, Judgement of Wisdom, and Judgement of Justice. All Judgement spells are considered ranged attacks for purposes of how they hit and how they critically hit. All cause damage based on attack power and spell power.
    • Judgement of Light now heals based on the Paladin’s attack power and spell power, the effect can not trigger more than once ever 4 seconds.
    • Judgement of Justice will no longer prevent Fear effects, but will only prevent NPCs from fleeing (e.g. at low health).
    • Judgement of Wisdom now restores mana based on the Paladin’s attack power and spell power, the effect can not trigger more than once every 4 seconds.

  • Precision has been removed.
  • Pursuit of Justice reduced to 2 ranks for 8/15% movement increase and 1/2% less chance to be hit by spells.
  • Righteous Defense no longer costs mana and the global cooldown has been removed.
  • Sacred Duty now also reduces the cooldown of Divine Protection.
  • All Seals have been reduced to 1 rank and now cost 14% of base mana. The duration has been increased to 2 minutes and are no longer consumed when a Judgement spell is cast. The effects can be triggered from all weapon based special abilities.
    • Seal of Blood now increases Judgement damabe by 45% of weapon damage.
    • Seal of Command now increases Judgement damage by 30% of weapon damage, 60% on stunned targets.
    • Seal of Righteousness deals damage based on weapons peed plus an amount based on attack power and spell power, increases Judgement damage by 25%.
    • Seal of Vengeance damage over time effect duration increased to 18 seconds and now applies its effect on every swing, causes damage based on attack power and spell power, and increases Judgement damage by 10% per stack of the damage over time effect.

  • Summon Warhorse and Summon Charger mana cost removed and no longer causes a global cooldown.
  • Vindication reduced to 2 ranks for 10/20% attribute reduction.

  • So, if I'm reading this right, with Judgement of Light and Wisdom only proccing once per 4 seconds max, does this signal the deathknell of the prot porcupine AOE leveling build? Are SoL and SoW still around?

I like what they're doing with Consecration, looks like it's going to have some utility for Rets too, and can give Prot specs another avenue of increasing their AOE threat.

That Forbearance debuff...ouch. Maybe a bit long?

The rest looks like a bunch of cleanup, nothing super surprising.

Blizzard just now said something about the new judgement, although it has been in effect for nearly 3 weeks. It is intended and is not a nerf. Since we will no longer be required to Seal > Judge > Reseal at the start of combat, it makes sense that that judgements are on a GCD. We are infact still doing the same actions in the same time. Also, the new judgements not only judge Wisdom, light and justice, they judge the current seal. You are getting twice the effect with one judgement.

I know that judgements are NOT seals. I posted the damn information.

All in all this change doesn't really hurt us.

I think it is per mob. So if you have JoW on 1 mob, then you will only get mana back (best case) once every 4 seconds. If you JoW multiple mobs, then each mob will give you mana back (best case) once every 4 seconds.

    For example:

1 mob with JoW could get you 120 mana/4 seconds
2 mobs with JoW could get you 240 mana/4 seconds
3 mobs with JoW could get you 360 mana/4 seconds
    etc....

Of course, when I've currently got JoW on a single mob, I don't usually see mana returns more often than every 4 seconds.

I think this is the intent, but I'm not 100% sure.

EDIT - Yes, I believe SoL and SoW are still around too.
