New to Hunter, Pet ?Follow

So the Wow Wiki on Allakhazam states that we can have 3 pets but only one at a time. Does that mean I can only have 3 pets over all the levels until 70? Clarification please? When I tame a pet do they automatically increase in level with me or do they stay at the level I tamed them at? Do their health and such increase with me as I level? Does it cost money at the Stable Master to change my pet? I guess I'm just looking for clarification on how the pet thing works in general. My main is a Human Warlock and so I understand the minion thing but this seems different. THANKS!!!!!

basically when you start out as a hunter, you automatically have one stable slot in any of the bigger cities. You can buy a second stable slot for if I remember right like 10g or something small like that. That essentially allows you to have 2 pets saved and then one current pet that you play with, but you can switch out your pets at your leisure and to suit your playstyle.

Each pet that you tame will level according to their own experience bar that can be found by right clicking on their name. Now a pet will never be a higher level than you currently are, in fact if I remember right I think that pets will always stay like 2 or 3 levels lower than you until you hit 70 (at least now before expansion comes out).

Hope that helps

Check out Petopia for more details and it should be on any hunters lists of good sites .

At the moment you can only have 2 permanent pets unless you have all skills and level 70 , the third slot is so you can tame pets with better skills to retrain your original pair of pets ( things like bite and claw go by level of mobs and need training new pets ) , which when the expansion comes will not be needed ( pets get their skills already unlike now ) so we will have 3 real pets if wanted.

At the moment you have to level the pet unless it is the same level as you ( it just means you killing green or above mobs ) exp from quests does not count , their health ect. is linked with yours and also with their level , if you read up here you will see many threads about levelling pets. When the expansion comes out it will be easier as if a pet is more than 5 levels below you it will close that gap to only 5 levels , which at 70 will probably still take ages to do.

Stable slots First is free , Second is 5G third is the pet you have out so max of 5g , and then it is all free to change, i have not heard/seen ? about any changes in the expansion for stable slot prices yet .

I suggest you read up at Petopia for more details and here as you treat hunters pets a lot different to what you have been used to , for example if your first pet is a cat it may or may not come with Claw and Bite , you have to tame a beast that has those skills and learn from it so you can train your pet , and as you level you have to find other beasts with a higher skill you want to learn and go tame them , when the expansion comes at least we will not have to do that any more as all pets will already know the skills .

I hope this comes close to answering your questions.

You can only have one pet beside you at one time. Extra pets are kept in the stable. You get one stable slot free. The other costs money, a few gold if I remember correctly. Buy the extra slots at any stable master. There is no cost to swap pets at a stable master. There are stablemasters in all major cities and many smaller ones. Allakhazam has a list of their locations.

Just to clarify, and to not scare away a new Hunter, the first stable slot you can buy only costs around 5 silver... not 10 gold. The second slot only costs 5 gold.
