WotLK pet types unbalanced?Follow

#1 Jul 27 2008 at 8:13 PM Rating: Decent
Or to put it a better way, down right unfair to the cunning type pets. Almost everything they do, the Ferocious pets do better. The two best things about the cunning types is that you don't have to feed them, and they get feeding frenzy. But, with the natural +10% dps that ferocious types get plus the bonus of spiked collar, I doubt it does much.

The Ferocious types need to be brought down to 10 dps, 0 armor and 5 health while the Cunning types get 10hp, 5 armor and 5 dps. Because seriously, 5% hp and armor on so called "utility" pets that have no more utility than the others types if a major slap in the face. Either that or just keep the each family has its own base stats thing that is in place now.

Though, I doubt that Blizzard reads these forums... and since I can't post on the oboards because of money issues, this is sort of just a rant. Yay for ranting about stuff still in beta. Something tells me that (I hope) that these issues will be fixed in the Beta.

The fact that the Cunning talents Mobility and Roar of Recovery tells me that a few things are still to be added since neither of these skills exist.

This is being discussed to death everywhere. It's pretty much agreed that Cunning needs to be evened out to have +25 total modifiers, and the Roar of Recovery needs to be a group buff to restore Mana/Rage/Energy. The most obvious spread of modifiers would be 10/10/5.

blizzard will most likely do what it does with all of its products

Step 1: release beta of game/expansion
Step 2: rework what they think should be fixed
Step 3: rework again, and again, and again

look at BC, every class got an overhaul at some point and time, some to the point where they gave us free respecs, it is way too early to cry about how things are.

so I take it you have the beta? or are you just reiterating what others have said? If you have the beta, then why can't you post on the Oboards (unless you have the beta and are on a private server I guess)

Even if it is way too soon to be crying over stuff yet, we might as well try to voice our concerns now so they may make the change before it comes out rather than in a patch. So go ahead and QQ away.

Um, what?

Money has nothing to do with posting on the oboards.

This is not the first (nor will it be the last) major revamp to how pets work. Just roll with it for now. On paper, it appears that there will be real choice out there for Hunters. There is not going to be a short list of must have pets. Not until the Mathhammer Experts get to work, and calculate pet DPS to the nearest millisecond.

The best advice is the old tried and true. Pick a pet you like, and enjoy the game. Don't stress over how you may or may not have the optimum pet.

I will bet the rent that the optimum pet is going to be ugly to look at and make an annoying noise. I, for one, will stay with The Rake I tamed over a year ago as my first string pet until it is painfully obvious something else is better.

His account must have expired and he can't afford the 15 dollars to reactivate it. That's what I'd wager.

In that case his opinion doesn't mean squat.

Wow Mental... ******* much? I may not be able to play at the moment, but does that mean that I cannot express my concerns? It is my opinion that the ferocious pets should be 15 dps (to match the 15 armor of the tank pets) with 5 in the other two.

Cunning should be 10 hp, 5 armor and 10 dps as the whole 10 hp/armor thing just makes it a substandard version of the tank. Still very much looking forward to the changes though. They will no doubt be very good once they are finished.

But, isn't a guy allowed to be paranoid? If not, I have nothing to do. I like to discuss stuff, ya know?

Don't take this the wrong way because I'm totally serious. If you can't afford 15 dollars a month, I feel kind of sorry for you.

I guess there isn't any other way to take it.

Every raid that has a hunter will have at least 1 Cunning pet. Sporebats are OP right now.

EDIT: Also, Mental made my day =D

Will depend on what our gear looks like.
I've seen a blue 2handed weapon for lvl 75ish that had over 350 armor pen.
So possibly it wont make such a big impact anymore, and cunning pets are royally screwed on dps.

If it counts for the whole raid though, I'll take one as SV hunter.

Just compare it to a 5-stack of Sunder and FF. FF is 1260, 5-stack of sunder is 3925. So assuming boss armor scales up at something along those lines (between 50% and 100% more), it would be about the same as a pet giving 300-400 armor penetration right now, which would be pure win.

The easy comparison is to just use the L70 numbers. Spore Cloud is about as good as Faerie Fire (520 ArPen) and unless it doesn't stack will be extremely strong.

EDIT: It's worth noting that a Tallstrider might be awesome too depending upon the boss design.

I can see Blizzard making bosses Immune to that...
At best it will be a pet you'll use for certain bossfights.
Wich is cool and nice.... unless Blizz keeps us stuck at 3 pets, because then people wont tame them.
