Rolling my paladinFollow

#1 Jul 27 2008 at 4:07 PM Rating: Decent
I thought Id be happy today when I hit level 10 with my dwarven paladin, but I feel a bit unsure. With a few of the quests especially the leper gnomes and frostmane hold quests. It feels very difficult to fight on fair ground with no ranged pull. And it dissapoints me to have to pull back after 3 of their friends gang up on me after a hard fight. Like I said, I thought id be happy. And I really want to continue with him. Does anyone have any leveling, or combat tips to help raise my spirits again? Thanks.

At 31, protection spec, I solo'd a 32 elite--Mor'Ladum (something like that. Undead guy in Duskwood). Lvl 10 is too soon to really get a feel for the class. Play it up to at least 20 and then see how you like it.

At that lvl, the class is still weak (any class strong at 10?)

This is a tactic I have used before: (There was a patroling guy in Tarnasis with 2 rogues... This worked well so try it with your lvl...)

Run up to 3 guys. Kill 1. Run away. Heal as you go, do what you can to minimize damage.

Come back, now it's 2 on 1. You should be able to do this... If not, same tactic. Rapid DPS focus on 1 guy, then Run.

You could also consider taking up Engineering so that you have access to bombs. They have a cool-down but it is better than always body pulling. Once you get Exorcism you will have a single target undead pull.

How does this happen? If you are getting adds part way through a fight (or right after one), then you have to keep a better look out on your surroundings. If you see the adds coming closer, move the fight so they don't ever join in.

Just think of your body as being the arrow or bullet. Go up and grab the mob. Then, walk backwards to where you started (or where you would've been if you could use a gun/bow/crossbow/wand). This will drag the mob back to that location, and hopefully out of the way of any adds.

If you are a dwarf paladin at level 10 and having trouble with some of the quests in Dun Morogh, I recommend taking the tram over to Stormwind and going to Goldshire for a level or 2 at least. This gives you some slightly easier quests to do that will go faster, will start to give you Reputation towards SW, and gives some variety. It will also give you easier access in the near future to all of the Deadmines and Stockades quests.

Just 'cause you are a dwarf doesn't mean you can't travel the world a bit, even at level 10. Do a few quests for the humans, level up once or twice, head back to Dun Morogh, level up once or twice, and head back to finish Elwynn and start on Westfall so you get the Deadmines/Stockades quests as easily as possible.

I don't know how many people miss out on the Seal of Wrynn (which is an AWESOME quest reward for the level at which you get it) just because they missed starting some quest chains at around level 14-15 in Westfall.
