MP5 or Crit?Follow

#1 Jul 27 2008 at 1:18 PM Rating: Decent
I know there is a conversion rate to how much crit = how much mp5, but i want to know, what is better to stack. I know illumination got nerfed but its still valid. Im currently in BT and I have a mix of both.

Well I'd say as a Paladin in BT you've got to see what style of healing you do,
Are you a downranker for HL, or do you still spam FoL with Max HL's thrown in?

I'd rather hope your a Downranker, and if so I'd shoot for the 25% SCrit with 100mp5.
After you hit your goal it's time to start looking into Pure +Heal, +SCrit, and the infamous +Shaste.

Believe there's still some debate on the +Shaste front, but all and all if your 4-T5, down ranking HL,
I'd shoot for Haste, then +Scrit.

Usually best to give me a Character Name, then I can do a little looking in to see.

The rough eye ball is 1% crit = 8mp5. That is EXTREMELY rough though since the exact conversion depends on FoL vs HL and will vary. I linked something that did the math once but bobs knows where that is now. So it varies fight to fight, FoL to HL etc. I don't recommend gemming/gearing for haste unless you are S4 pvp or a raider with 4 piece t6. I recommend if you are t5ish to push for 100+ mp5 unbuffed while casting and 25 holy% crit. BT and beyond 120+ and 25%+ holy. The biggest thing to realize is that balance is key, use trinkets to attain it (mp5 trinket if you are light or crit). I am in sunwell and currently have 2412 healing, 153 mp5 unbuffed while casting (which is high) and 26% holy crit. Definitely not a fan of direct gemming for spell haste or spell crit, I tried both and it was no bueno.

For ranking I use rank9/10 HL, max rank FoL. Illidan/Mother are the exceptions where i use rank 6 fol. Make sure you use max rank HL on Bloodboil.

Fel enrage happens once a minute. Use Divine Illumination first one, next one you trinket, divine favor, Divine Illumination will be up for the third, trinkets for the fourth. Pop pots on cooldown and the fight is cake healing.

I did the math on this a while back, and here are the results:

FoL (max rank) spam: 1% crit = 3.5 MP5
HL (max rank) spam: 1% crit = 12.5 MP5

Of course, you will barely ever be in a fight where you can just stand there and spam either of those spells, so you will get less MP5 from crit. Between running around, Cleanse, etc..., your actual mana regen from crit gets significantly reduced. If you generally spam FoL, or a downranked HL, then you're probably getting around 4-5 MP5 worth of regen.
