Hey guys. Im currently full afflic specced heres my armory http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Spinebreaker&n=Woehler Im just kind of putting along getting my pvp gear pieces as I can. I play mainly BG's but want to get into Arena when I get more PVP pieces. But anyway...I was thinking of switching to SL/SL spec because of the added survivability but I don't like the thought of losing iHoT and Dark Pact. So i'm asking any SL/SL locks out there or anyone who knows is it worth it to have the build over afflic? Any responses are appreciated

I just wrote out a big long post and my dumb page reset somehow -_-

Anyways in short here's what I've found.

For WSG/EotS/AB you'll miss Dark Pact, but you'll get used to no IHoT. Increased survivability means a much more valuable character when dealing with objectives - especially in WSG. You will find yourself higher on the charts with more Honor because you're dying less. Getting Food/Water becomes more of a necessity than it did before, but you'll find yourself surviving things that were impossible before.

For AV you'll miss UA on occasion, however you'll find you do not need any other spells from 41Aff that you don't get with SL/SL. On offense, you'll find yourself able to complete more objectives, take bolder stances, and in large skirmishes through SLing enemies around you, you will find yourself in a near-invincible state.

For 2s and 3s you'll find that the extra survivability is necessary to cause an impact. Whether you're actually a primary damage dealer, or simply a distraction, SL/SL offers the kiting ability of CoEx, the durability through Demonology, and damage through instant DoTs, while having the annoying factor gained by being able to fear whenever they stop chasing you, and having a Fast-Cast puppy ready to bother anyone who might find a way to kill your first one.

For 5s, it highly depends on your team makeup and strategy. SL/SL can work, often not as well though. Sometimes this is a time to take up the pressure UA can put on, or the volatile damage of Destruction.

For Grinding and Dailies you'll find that using a Sacraficed VW or Succubus grants you all the HP/Mana that the Imp would offer, especially with HP like yours. Using VW Sacraficed means you'll always be able to Lifetap for mana, and you'll never really have to SL or DL foes. Usually a few SBolts works wonders, however DoTing remains an option.

Try out SL/SL. It's great for now, until WotLK comes out and totally revamps everything.

At the risk of getting flamed or dumped on, what is SL/SL please?

SL/SL is a build that incorporates Siphon Life and Soul Link to increase survivability while still giving a Warlock 2 Instant DoTs and an Instant Curse.

Generally heavier on the Defense side, SL/SL can range from this 23/38/0 to a more offense-oriented 30/31/0.

Anywhere in the spectrum works, however picking up the defensive-side of Demonology will greatly improve durability which, in turn, allows you to be on the field longer, dealing more damage.

I've gone back and forth trying to make up my mind while running BGs, and though I really, really miss iHoT sometimes, the Sl/Sl survivability has really helped. I find that when I Siphon and Seed in AV, Fear off jerks around my flag-carrier or defend nodes, it's generally easier as Sl/Sl than UA.

Dark Pact is a loss as well, but it's easily made up with the occasional Tap/Drain. Just be very careful about when you do it ;)

Check out Warlock's Den for a ton of great PvP posts.

Good luck!

Thanks all for the replies. I decided to go SL/SL for a while and see how it goes. I've only played a few games and haven't quite gotten used to not having the iHoT yet. But hopefully that will change. But again thank you all for the info. I'll stick it out for a while and see how I do.
