First off barrens is ok for leveling. I always prefer ghostlands over barrens but thats just a personal preference. I feel I level faster there and it also seems more compact than spaced out like barrens is. For a build I would just work your way down the affliction tree. That will be the fastest and easiest for you. Since you said you were fairly new to the game I would suggest looking up "James horde Leveling Guide" online. Its good for newer players to help find their way. Ive used it for a few of my toons when I get lost on where to go. Hope this helps.

I personally like ghostlands also, but my brother likes the barrens. I would lvl in the barrens with your friends, and when your online by yourself, head over to ghostlands. Playing with friends is a lot more fun to me. Also like the guy above said, James lvling guide is insane.
