#1 Jul 25 2008 at 2:04 AM Rating: Default
Hi

I have raidet af bit with my guild and we have cleared Kara tons of times and now moving on to ZA step by step. In my guild I am in the top 3 dps, but I wanna go the extra mile and be the number 1 dps ALWAYS.

This is my char:

I was wondering if anyone has some suggestions regarding my build and gameplay so that I can be the top 1 :-)

Get rid of your PvP gear and get proper, gemmed, enchanted PvE gear.

Off the top of my head:

Spellstrike (Hood and Pants)
Dagger off Prince
Orb of Soul Eater (or Fetish of Primal Gods) - Badge Reward
Finish off tailoring and get FSW set OR go for more badges and get Robe and Boots
Finish Kara rep for upgrade ring and get badge ring
Finally, get X'iri's Gift - trinket.

There's more, but basically it's your gear letting you down.

Well first, with your gear respec to UA. With your current gear you are getting lower DPS with the Destro build. You only wanna respec to destro when you have:

170 Spell hit
1000 Spell Dmg
And 18% Crit

and second, what is your rotation?

Well i get some passive crit from shamans but that doesnt count? And I also get some crit for the destro talents?

I usually first dot the target up, spam SB and then keep the dots going all the time.

If I go all out affliction, wont I lose ALOT of burst and therefor alot of dps?

If your Destro, don't DoT, just Curse and SB. Though I agree, you don't really have the stats for Destro yet. The biggst thing is your +Hit. You could pick up Asyen's Gift, Unfused Nethergon Band, Scryers Bloodgem, Voodoo Woven Belt, lots of good PvE choices out there. The PvP gear your wearing is horrible for PvE. get a better Metagem, and get rid of the intellect and Stamina Gems. Quit going for socket bonuses and get pure +hit, pure +spell dam or the +hit/Spell dam gems like you have in your chest, until your hit capped.

Check out this gear guide:

Sorry, don't usually like linking to other sites, however, we have nothing like this here.

In the sources on that guide is a link to the Warlock DPS Spreadsheet. Get that, plug in your gear, then plug in different Specs to see how you can maximize your DPS. You can also plug in different gear your thinking about getting and see how much of an increase it will be. Also, don't expect to reach the DPS it says, as that's in a perfect world with no movement and little lag, which is rarely thee case.

WTB no movement in ZA. :o(

All good advice. Especially switching to UA before you get your hit up and better gear.

Hmm okay... So I go for some hitrating and some more +spl.damage :-)

Could you then advice me regarding the best build with this gear? Should I go for UA? Please do give examples regarding build for my char :-)

Go to the same site in the link I posted, and look in the Instances and Raiding -> Rading Builds Forum.

First and foremost, you're not hit capped. This is going to be the number one thing that will keep you from getting to the top of DPS charts.

As opposed to Tugnus is saying above me, you can check the WoW official forums for what everyone else has been saying for the last year or so - it's 202 hit, 1k shadow damage, 20% untalented crit - for base 21/40 spec. You'll do better DPS as Affliction (41/0/20) unless you suck at DoT timers. If you do, then spec 0/41/20 with the Felguard.

If you consistently have an elemental shaman in your group that pretty much never dies, you can drop your spell hit by 3% (though I would still gear for it, because there may be times, especially in 25-mans, where that shaman may not be available).
