Str and AgiFollow

I have a little confusion when it comes to itemization for feral druids. On several locations (never from druid experts, but from several locations) I've heard it said that both in leveling and in raiding, ferals need "strength for bear form, and agility for cat form". This, to me, sounds backwards. Strength adds double the attack power as agility when in cat form, so is favorable for higher dps when in cat form (and in bear form when leveling imo, but leveling/questing styles differ). Whereas the Agility bonus to dodge and armor is really what bear druids want more than anything else. Am I right, and I've always been hearing it backwards, or am I confused about something? How much strength do you generally want as a bear?

Agi will provide more dps for cat form. Sure, it only gives half the AP as str, but it also gives crit, and cat form is highly dependent on crits. Str is a secondary stat for tanking: it is always nice to have, but you don't need to go out of your way to get it. Leveling, you will want as much stam as possible for tanking, but at 70 you will want agi for dodge (once you reach ~15000 health). The armor gain from agi is negligible.

Personally, the only situation where I like to have strength on my gear instead of agility is for PvP. Resilience is bad for our crits, might as well just do more normal damage. For DPS and tanking, I stack on agility before strength as much as possible. Love the constant crits in cat form, and when you're tanking with your face, you gotta love dodge% ;)

I have just started leveling a druid, only lvl 25 or so. I have been going by the Druid 101 post which states

Quote:
Here is a prioritized listing of what to focus on for what specialized roles you will play in groups. Keep in mind that only the five primary stats are readily available until the mid-50 levels and up.

Healing Druids - +heal, Int, Mana/5, Spirit
Nuking Druids - +spell damage, +spellcrit, Mana/5, Int, Spi
Melee Druids - Str, Agi, AP, Crit, ToHit
Tanking Druids - Armor, Sta, Agi, Def, Dodge, Str

I stay in cat form mostly while questing, and really enjoy it. I have been stacking str as much as i can due to the list above for melee druids. From this point on do I need to start getting agi, over str? Just wanting to know before I get to higher levels where gear choices become much more important.

I have followed the advise from the sticky's and from Emmerald's forum on how to gear for tanking. I have a pretty respectable set (see the armory link), mostly blues but a couple epics from the badge vendor and from Kara. The thing I have noticed is that Strength is actually my lowest stat overall. I have little to no +INT and SPI on my tanking gear, but all my gems and enchants are AGI and STA. I realize our base strength at 70 is only 88 and intellect and spirit are somewhat higher than that, but I couldn't believe that overall was my numerically lowest stat. Any thoughts?

Edit: of course I logged in my dps gear. But even looking at the base stats intellect and spirit are 60-80 points higher than agility, strength and stamina...

probaly cause agi gives you 3 things compared to str. agi gives armor crit and dodge. str just atk power wich some gear has it already namely our staffs. i dont think i've ever heard of anyone stacking str so far for bear. maybe once they start running out of rage due to too much armor or too much dodge for what ever content of the game they are trying to run. i know my gear aint that good but for some of the mid-high lvl non heroic instances i toss on dps gear little less stam more agi str and atkpower for harder hits.

ChildeRoland you really should carry two sets of gear min one for tanking one for dps. dps i would go with agi str atk power as much as you can tossing in enough sta to keep your self alive.
the quote you showed is pretty much how i would do it only diff for cat i may put more agi than the str. just for more dodge and crits for soloing.

head on over to Druid WikiSpaces for the str to agi explanation, i wasnt too sure about it at first but i was bored and figured why not, i loosely followed the chart when deciding what stat to socket and what stat to get an enchant for and i saw a nice boost in my overall dps (i was WAY over ap'd for my crit rating, had about 3k ap, and 38% crit at the time) regemmed and rethought some enchants and i was a dps machine rarely beeing out dps'd by anyone other then a warlock (i was out dps'ing every class before i redid my gems and enchants but following this i gained ~150 to 200 more dps over what i was previously posting)
