So I recently acquired the Stag Helm of Malorne to go along with my Gauntlets of Malorne for my tanking set. Threw the standard tanking enchants on them that I have always liked to use in my tank gear (QD quartermaster head enchant, 2% threat to gloves). However I got to thinking about the 2 piece bonus.

"Your melee attacks in bear form and dire bear form have a chance to generate 10 additional rage. Your melee attacks in cat form have a chance to generate 20 energy."

I have begun contemplating if I should use these items in my dps set. So my basic question is this: how often does the 2 piece bonus proc? I haven't paid much attention while tanking since getting them and I am thinking if it kicks in often enough then it would be a good idea for me to use them in my dps set at the expense of 1% crit and roughly 30 AP (which I would lose if I used the two T4 items).

And if it is worth using in dps, will the 2% threat pose much of a problem for me when functioning in a dps role? And if I were to replace it with +15 agi, would it be a noticeable decline in my threat generation when functioning in a tank role?

Thanks in advance for any information my fellow druids can provide.

I once found this article:

http://www.ogtguild.com/viewtopic.php?t=2245&sid=3b58d9a1c5da9ef274ff1186314a29e4

Just below the middle of the article, under the items shown, it says that the T4 2 piece setbonus has a 4% chance to proc, worth about 1 energy per second or about 58 dps. I don't remember what that latter exactly is based on, but it I think it becomes quite clear if you read the full article.

Have fun with it, mate.

Thanks, I'll check it out right now.

In some testing while doing dailies it seems that the proc resets the 2 second timer on energy regen. But I'm not entirely sure, it's hard to tell.

Maybe you should get an energy tick bar, like roguefocus (I think that is the name...)

Got one, my X-perl has one built in on my character frame. Still, it's hard to tell if the bar is resetting or just reaching the point of rollover for the standard energy regeneration.

The 2 t4 kitty bonus is the best bonus avaible for druid dps. You will be using it pretty much forever. Even if you got 4 t6, you should have 2 t4.
Usually, ppl go for the head and the shoulder for t4, since you lose less itemization in these itens.

Edit: no, it does not reset it.

I would go with the +15 AGIL on gloves for both tanking and DPS. I don't think I've ever heard of the threat being the end all for glove enchants for tanks, but I've been "wrong" before.

Ditto. 15 Agility is worth .6% crit (1% per 25) and 1% dodge (1% per 14.7). (numbers per the Wiki). That much crit would offset some of the lost threat, and dodge is dodge.

So for tanking alone I'd take 15 agility over 2% threat any day of the week, and the 2t4 bonus is the stuff of dreams for cat form DPS, ya can't pass up that free energy. In cat form 15 agility gives you the abovementioned goodness plus 16.5 attack power -- all instead of the completely counterproductive +2% threat.

If you turn on the blizzard scrolling combat text from the interface menu and turn on every possible thing you can turn on with it. You'll see when the set bonus procs. It took me a little while to figure out why I would see +120 mana across my screen when my set bonus proc'd. Mind you, I have 2 resto t4 pieces.
