I play the cliched Female NE hunter on Lightbringer...

I've gotten attack power up, and I'm reading the forums. But any advice on how to up the crit chance would be awesome. I'm tired of my BoomChicken husband showing me up with crits.

For the current Armory of my toon, Epithymia on Lightbringer.

thank you in advance.

You can increase your crit chance by increasing your agility.

AGI and + crit are your only choices - my BE hunter (beast master spec) just barely cleared 20% recently - it's kinda tough.

You just cleared 20% crit? What kind of gear are you in?

You'll never have bigger crits than a boomkin, hunters just dont have big crits.
What you can (and will) outshine him in is pure, raw dps.
Hunters dont hit hard, we hit a lot.
Boomkins hit hard, but not a lot.

Because he casts a wrath in 1.5 seconds, you have a steadyshot and most of an autoshot in the same time.

Especially if you start looking at raids, hunters are at the very top of the dps there, boomkins are at the very low end with the shadowpriests.

You will get a lot more help if you actually link right at the start of the topic....remember.....we are lazy.

Anyway, it isn't killing you right now, but before you hit 70 then you should respec. The main talent to make those crit numbers go up is Mortal Shots.

As far as the crit% goes, you are only level 61. As you get better gear through the instances and normal quest lines, your crit% will shoot up.

You could always slow him down a bit by sabotage. Perhaps spilling some Rice Crispies on his keyboard. Making sure they find their way under his keys.
That way he will be like "Wtf! Why is my keyboard crunching!?!" instead of DPS'ing. Smiley: lol

One small tip - Level your leatherworking if you have the gold. When you hit 70 and are able to make the epic pieces you will be one step ahead of him and I used them for a long long while. Thru the 70's instances, heroics and kara. Plus being able to make those legs patterns is a money maker on my server

Killing worgen repeatedly in Duskwood until they turn green for skinning has been great revenge. I've only just dropped my previous professions to pick up skinning and LW about 24 hours ago.

I'm not gonna spill anything on the new keyboard (Saitek Cyborg, damn I love that thing)

Zebug, I'm usually out in the living room dealing with the three year old (also she was the reason I couldn't place the link before, she was trying to help me type. I love the beast mastery spec, but was planning on hybrid survival and MM spec once I got closer to 70.

thanks guys. I'm gonna hit up my friend for some agi enchants, he owes me. lol

BM for the win. PVP/SV is for arena.

I am sure that Zebug did not want you to switch specs just when you have enough points at level 70 you can respec to the cookie cutter BM spec 41/20/0 which will include mortal shots. This will up your damage on crits significantly. It will not make for huge crits though. This is a good thing though as it makes aggro management easier. Read the stickies too, you can start preparing now for hunter play at 70.

I would have to disagree about boomkin, Aethien. Have you raided with a competent boomkin? Dps in our guild is dominated by three BM hunters and a couple warlocks. But, we have also had a very competent boomkin that can give the top five a run for their money and often ended up in top three. This is in T5 content. I don't know if boomkin suffer in BT/Hyjal, but he has done quite well with us.

Now is the boomkin outgearing the others or on the same level?

OP,

As stated by a couple others, I'd strongly recommend a re-spec to the cookie cutter BM 41/20/0.

The points in MM are really well spent. Lethal Shots and Mortal Shots are great talents. The Tier 3 talent Go for the Throat is also very useful. It helps keep your pet's Focus generating, so it can use its special attacks more.

Otherwise, don't worry about it too much. For your level, you have pretty good gear. You'll improve over time as you level, but for now you're fine. Once you start getting socketable gear, that's really when you'll be able to push your crit, by gemming for Agi or Crit rating. But, also be aware that big crits aren't always desirable (i.e., pulling threat) and gemming for AP and/or hit may be more beneficial for your dps.

I wouldn't necessarily recommend it, but one way you could up your crit now is to enchant your gear. If you have cash to spare, or have access to an enchanter, you could add quite a few enchants to your gear. For gear that will be replaced relatively quickly, however, I wouldn't really recommend it...just saying.

Until I got Ripley (my ravager) he was constantly pulling aggro off the pet. 'Course then again he's a bit impatient about letting the pet reach target first. Now he can't seem to pull aggro off. When he and I run around Ripley is the tank for us.

I've got a good enchanter friend that owes me some favours so I'll be able to pull a few agi enchants from him. Nothing spectacular, just a little bonus.

I'll keep that in mind for the spec points division.

thank you so much

In general you've done a good job of selecting gear for +agility, +intellect and +stamina. Put a scope on your gun. That'll help the DPS output the most. Enchant your gear where is a good item you'll keep for a while. Get new rings as the two you have are too many levels below you. Get new trinkets. Now that you're 61, there's a couple good ones available - Bladefist's Breath and Mark of Conquest. Run Blood Furnace until you get the nice gun the gas bag boss drops.

if you can get the honor hold marks you can get till you get a better one from the instances there in hellfire

http://www.wowwiki.com/Image:INV_Weapon_Bow_04.png

and since your leatherworker, enough get some http://thottbot.com/i24520 so you can increase your rep with honor hold faster for the patterns and the gun if you don't have anything better. A hint on the rep if you grind out the hellfire instances to honored before you quest there and then start questing you will be almost exhaulted after finishing the quests.

revel in the fact that you can FD and he cannot. if you both do the same damage at any point much less you outdamaging him, you will always come out on top because of FD.
