Just started WoW again... need some advice.Follow

I recently broke my ankle, so I have some free time on my hands.

I started from stratch, and rolled my first priest. It's currently level 11, and I'm really enjoying it. I just have a few questions on playing the class.

1) I've never taken a character to 70 before (Highest I've been is 40ish), and was wondering if I could make it to 70 in a month before I head back to college. I've heard that leveling a priest can be kind of slow, especially because I want to spec holy the whole time if possible. Can this be done? Keep in mind I have nothing to do and can probably play for a good 8 to 12 hours a day.

2) I haven't played since the new patch that up the xp rewards. Since I want to stay holy the whole time, would it be better for me to solo quest or could I just run instances the whole time?

3) I'm going to take tailoring as one of my professions. I've never used it before. Can you recomend a good second profession to go with it, keeping in mind I'm gonna need a good source of income this being my only character.

Thanks in advance for the help, and I apologize if the questions have already been asked. (New to the board)

It's possible to get to 70 in a month, even as a healing build. But it will be much easier to do it as shadow. Don't worry, you'll still be able to heal instances as a shadowpriest until you reach 70. The secret to levelling a priest quickly is to get 5/5 spirit tap as your first talents, then 5/5 wand specialization, then load up on shadow talents, and always pack the best wand you can afford along with plenty of spirit as well as stamina, intellect and later spell power on your gear. At 40 respec to shadowform and cruise to endgame. The FAQ goes into more depth.

Solo questing is by far the quickest way to level up. Instances give great loot but the XP doesn't come as fast, especially since you'll have to find groups and herd them around, which really eats up time you could be spending questing.

Tailoring is an excellent profession for a priest. Since it provides little income and requires you to use the cloth you gather which you could otherwise sell, you may want to pair it with one of the gathering professions: skinning, herbalism or mining. They are the simplest way to supplement your income via your professions. Alternately, Enchanting is a gold mine if you're willing to learn how to disenchant profitably, but that requires time learning the subtleties of the auction house, whereas it sounds like you want to spend your time levelling. Jewelcrafting is very profitable at endgame, and Engineering is my favorite profession because of the way it lets you use items far more powerful than non-Engineers have access to, but without a lot of gold you'd be perpetually broke trying to level one of those along with Tailoring.

On the profession matter; most people take enchanting. Problem is that it's a huge goldsink (unless like Emmitsvenson said you're willing to learn what DE's into what and can play the AH a bit; that takes time though). Easiest to go with Tailoring is probably Skinning; some of your recipes might also require leather, and you can AH the main bulk of that resource.

Thanks a lot to both of you. As long as it'll help me, and I can still heal instances I'll spec shadow for now. I'm guessing once I hit the 60's it'll be time to re-spec?

Also, by the way your making it sound, I should ditch my mace and go wands right away?

I'll probably end up taking the Tailoring and Skinning. Seems like the best combo to get gear/money without taking too much time away from leveling.

Thanks again.

That's actually what a lot of people do, yup.

You're messing something up. You can wear both a mace, an off-hand ánd a wand. Do so; even if you always use your wand and never melee hit you need the stats it gives.

Good luck tho!

If speed is your top priority, I'd stay Shadow all the way to 70. But if you insist on doing some as Holy, I'd highly recommend an IDS build, as it boosts your soloing considerably while still being a very popular healing build.

My experience: I respecced Holy/IDS at 61 for a couple of levels, was finding leveling way slower, switched back to Shadow, then back to Holy again at 67. Now I'm finding soloing works fine, and I didn't even take the Smite talents. I don't know if it's my eq or the combo of talents or what, but I'm finding the fights go better now than they did in my early 60's. It's not as efficient; I have to drink once in a while, which I never did as Shadow. But it's not particularly painful either.

My mistake. Like I said, I haven't played in awhile lol. I just got a wand (As a quest reward) and it's working out WAY better now.

Also, I'm about to ding 14 and have about 7 hours /played. Is this a good rate considering they upped the xp and all? Keep in mind I also leveled my tailoring to the 50s as well.

That is a pretty good speed, and the new xp only effects between levels 20-60 the lower levels are still the same

That explains it. I was wondering why it didn't seem faster lol. I'll see what happens when I hit 20 then.
