I think what you people need to keep in mind is that these people honestly do play the game as a job (some even get paid to play). And when you are working, not playing a game, you will do anything to make your job easier, even be fussy over a race in the game.

So as much as we like playing the game, and want to do end game like them, lets all face the fact, we are all PLAYERS. And when your employer looks at you, will they not say, you have a masters in business, we want a masters in economics - get lost. :)

There are some myths about shaving which are worth dispelling. Shaved legs really don’t make you go faster, either on the bike or in the swim. In fact, they might actually make you go slower in the swim because the hair can help streamline the water flowing over your legs. Otters and seals swim really quite well and they have lots of hair! However, you do "feel" the water more with shaved legs and that can help psychologically -- just don’t expect to shave seconds as well.

Sounds good, but it's wrong.

Shaving (hair removal) in human swimmers has been found to decrease VO2 and blood lactate levels (in other words, you don't work as hard) and increase distance traveled per stroke. If you suck at swimming, then shaving will not make you a good swimmer; however, in races that come down to 0.1 seconds, it can make a difference.

Human body hair creates drag in the water -- seals and otters have coats that are better adapted to swimming than people do.

Just one thing actually... If they're só intent on hardcore raiding they should exclude Dwarves as well. In the lane they're driving Humans and Draeneis completely own Dwarves.

It's a high end arena/pvp guild as well and dwarves have some of the best pvp racials in the game. Hence their decision not to exclude dwarves.

The point all comes down to that you don't pick the fat kid in dodgeball. If you want to be nice to everyone then you might. But if you're playing to win you'll tell him to go suck on an ice cream truck.

Eh, I get the comparison, but in dodgeball, players have two roles--not to get hit, and to hit others. The fat kid is easier to hit, but if that fat kid has good aim and an amazingly powerful arm, he's well worth taking. In WoW, our players are divided into one role--those priests are support, so any non-support function of them is worthless. It doesn't matter how good an arm the priest has, if he's fat, he's out.

wow did your seriously just compare sitting in a chair for 20 hour out of the day to a professional sport that requires years of dedication and peak fitness levels?

Ok. So where did you get the information that raiders do not do sports? Raiding takes a lot of time, but not all of it. You're so incredibly biased - where is this coming from?

and yes i can BET that no member of that guild has fun.

... the stupidity of this remark brings new meaning to that very word. Personally, I can't understand that ppl like to watch a boxing match, but they do. Perhaps it's time to realize that this world will never revolve around your opinion which, in all honesty, is rather shallow.

Yeah, they probably will. But that's their choice. No one ever forced them to join that guild and no one is keeping them from leaving it. They endure the harsh environment so they can reap the rewards, you know, the ones you probably want for free.

It sounds you're the one who's not happy with his life. Why so defensive? Irritated that you can't meet the requirements of such guilds? Ffs man, who are you to judge.

so really you are a @#%^ing moron if you took offense to my post and the only reason you would is because you are one of the hardcore "MORE DOTS PLEASE!!!!" type raiders that waste there fat pathetic lives on this game only to have to start over years later. when your choking on your fat in your last moments on this earth i hope you look back and say "ya.. it was worth it"

Man, I pity you. You get bullied much? No friends? No *****? What the hell is wrong with you?! Srsly, I hope someone finally takes the initiative to ban you from these boards.

I'm in a casual raiding guild so don't really know, but I'd guess the players of these top guilds would pay attention to their theorycraft to get the most out of their characters - not the sort who don't do their research from the beginning and choose their race carefully. When you make a new character do look up a little info first? There's plenty of guides that include an evaluation of races.

My first ever char I rolled a nelf priest, then after finding this forum and reading some of the posts and info I couldn't get it out of my head that nelfs made inferior priests, so re-rolled Draenei (this was over a year ago, so at the time only Dwarves and Draenei had fear ward), I was glad I did as I made little use of star shards or Elune's grace (though these are improved now). Can't say I'd ever thought about racials and raid utility though.

Sooo, thoughts on the matter? Are racials the be all and end all for raiding? While I think any guild has the right to dictate the terms for their members, are people losing sight that WoW is still a game? Not really sure what my thoughts are on all of this, but I am curious to see what other community members think about this topic.

My thoughts: No I don't think racials are the be all and end all for most players. Blizz has set up the game to allow people of like minds to get together and play the game how they want; ie guilds. So if you are a min/max type of person, these types of guilds would interest you, you'd most likely be happy there, and you'd most likely have already done your own min/maxing.

You get the same hard coreness in PvP guilds as well for racials, comps, gear, etc. People who don't think that is fun, won't app to those types of guilds either. Look at Theo in the rogue forum. Guy loves to PvP...It's his thing.

I think people will do whatever they find fun in their off time, no matter what it may be. I'm just glad I live in a country where it is possible for me to do what I want in my off time; doesn't matter if my neighbor does something different.

On a side note: I've raided with NE priests before. Good healers, good shadow priests as well. And we are casual raiding.

I'm a little confused about this thread in general. It's one guild... Not the entire blizz company banning NElf Priests from raiding. If you're not trying to join the guild, why care?

I've been away for a while with real life issues, so haven't had any chance to check the forums for quite some time. Anyway, from my own personal perspective I thought the issue was an interesting one. Many people debate the value of racials for their characters and I have read on these very boards that priest racials are something worth considering when creating a character.

While I personally, am not interested in joining the guild (even if that were possible), and my priest is Draenei, I see no harm in discussing their policy as it does relate to the issue of priest racials in general. I have no interest in running for political office, but I do enjoy the occasional political debate with my father because politics are something I am interested in. I think I am making a clumsy analogy here, but I guess my point is that I enjoy discussion and debate on a topic whether it is directly relevant to me personally or not.

Anyway, I am sorry that a few people got angry about some of what was posted even though I realize I am not responsible for their anger. Maybe teacake will make us some cookies? Oh wait, is it still pie season...who wants pie?

You don't know anything about any of their social skills or lack of. Nobody said they only live in their fantasy world. What's wrong with comparing it to the olympics? Both are competitive are they not? You're an idiot.

This thread is so full of angry..

People take this game so seriously. But the fact is that they can. It's up to you to not take their serious-taking seriously. Or something like that.

Took me ages to scroll down all that.

He makes a valid point about raid buffs and debuffs and such, but i think that depreciating an entire race of priests just because of that is a bit massive, but justified somewhat none the less.

You'd be more annoyed if he said that it was because he didn't like the /dance wouldn't you?
