At this point it would be cheaper to just level up another priest. Smiley: oyvey It's worse than having to pick between cake and pie.

Cake is better.

No, pie.

Well, I know you said "silly" in your title but I am going to respond seriously. The Cake is a lie!!!!!1111!!

Actually, I do have some ideas on your dilemma.

Quote:
Time is money, friend.

You are spending time to get (ingame) money for re-speccs by questing, farming or dailies.

You are spending time to level a new character.

Now for me, I spent some time (and plenty of money!!) making my Frozen Shadoweave set. I too, would like to explore the healy side of priesting but there are a few roadblocks. I am certainly not going to drop my tailoring specialization to make the Primal Mooncloth set. Nuh uh, no way. Sure, it's possible but I personally am not interested. So, in addition to re-spec costs, there are the costs (both of time and money) associated with gearing up for a healing spec. This is primarily an investment of money over time, although time is definitely a factor.

Ok, now simply level up a new priest. But wait, you're sick of leveling? (I don't know if you are or not, it's a hypothesis or something, ya know?) This is what I decided on. I am kinda sick of leveling, but at the same time I think a Disc/Holy build with Spirit tap might be fun. With the increased speed in leveling 20- 60 coupled with the level 30 mounts, it might not be too bad. This is primarily an investment of time over money. I prefer time, as fortunately (actually unfortunately but w/e) I actually have more time to spend than money. I get more bored doing dailies than leveling so it's a trade off.

Well, I think I've rambled on enough. Kids, my post is what happens when you blend insomnia with an over abundance of caffeine.

Yeah, changing tailoring specialty certainly has its drawbacks.

For me, I've gone back to Holy at level 67 and think that'll probably be it for this character. I find maintaining good mutliple sets of gear to be a hassle, and I'm in the mood to specialize right now and just focus on one thing. And as fun as shadow is, I just enjoy healing too much.

I've got a level 5 priest bank alt though... just in case I need to indulge in some shadowy fun... Smiley: sly

I went totally shadow all the way through ssc and tk, once we started doing attunement only runs there I began to seriously build on my kara healing set. Once in T6 content the cloth drops like confetti so gearing up to try new things aint an issue. I still raid primarily as shadow, but due to a few lucky drops, some badge gear and a bit of alt-running I've been able to heal every raid boss in TBC up to and including brutallus.

So, gear not being the issue, respec costs are the main thing. I tend to respec quite often and its not too bad these days, with a full kara clear giving you 1 1/2 vendored epic gems or vortexes. Its an easy 300g and more than enough to cover flasks and respec costs these days.

Of course, he's still gearing up which means every Kara goes towards new gear, possibly of both specs. It'll be a while before he can go after gems or vortexes.

You do get used to the cost of respeccing, though. I go raid->PvP->raid at least once and often twice a week, on top of raiding costs. I've started working the AH a bit, mostly with a low-level jewelcrafter prospecting Adamantite in order to sell the gems, and then doing the fishing and cooking daily, selling what I can, and playing with food prices (buying raw mats for 10g less than I can sell the whole stack of cooked food for, etc). I can sometimes find a few epic gems a good 50g under the normal and pick them up, you just have to pay attention. Then when I get really bored I either do the dailies, I farm primal mana, or I fish for golden darters in Terokkar (the rivers make a large circle north of the Horde and Alliance towns, just run circles).

Yeah, the food market is a great way to go, used to do that quite a lot as well

I'm not shy of respec costs. Money has gotten easy enough to make. I was mostly just commenting on how hard it is to pick a favorite.

I still like the idea of a second priest better though. I don't know why. I think I have a buried RPer in there somewhere who wants her characters to have a consistent and distinctive personality. You can see a druid going from bear to cat to tree and back again, but shadow and holy seem kind of incompatible to exist within the same personality.

This is actually why I have chosen to not respec my talents. It isn't all just the inconvenience and whatever, even though those also are a part of it. If I really wanted to do it, then I would simply find a way to do it.

I don't roleplay, I don't even have a backstory or anything for my characters. It's just that in order for me to have fun, I need to immerse myself (if only a little bit) in the game. I don't have any problem dropping out of shadowform to heal occasionally but my priest is a Shadow Priest...It's part of who my character is. I'm sure some people find that silly, but oh well.

However, I like healing also. I drop heals on people all the time on my shaman and my druid. I think it would be fun to be resto on those characters, but each character class has a different style of healing. I think priest healing is very versatile and fun so I have been leveling another priest, albeit very casually. I am more focused on getting my shaman and my druid leveled up right now.

Well, that's it. I'm not changing now. I spent a ton of time yesterday leveling up tailoring (from 0) and getting my Mooncloth cooldown started. (Yeah, I'm only level 67, but at 52 days to make all the cloth, the expansion's apt to come out before I get my hawt purplz if I don't get going.) I am now broke, and tired of making weird circular gestures. I am so totally not changing specialization any time soon.

Now if you'll excuse me, I gotta go kill eels. And bog lords. And bog lords. And eels. Oh! And spiders.

I got the cloth for my PMC set a lot quicker by crafting spellcloth and shadowcloth whenever the cooldowns were up, then traded them for primal mooncloth. I was also broke at the time and still managed to scrape enough cash to craft the mats.

(I'm now just two more primal might cooldowns away from the whitemend pants I've been saving for this past week. Yay!)

I actually found it most worthwhile to pay people of the right spec 20g for their cooldowns. Sell the shadowcloth and spellcloth in order to buy more PMC.

Fire + shadow for shadowcloth = 65g on my server, 85g crafting cost, sell for a total of 95g
Fire + mana for spellcloth = 55g on my server, 75g crafting cost, sell for a total of 110g

Not huge profit margins, but it's still profit, and you get it done a hell of a lot faster than just doing it by yourself.
