Heart-Flame Better than Cyclone?Follow

#1 Jul 22 2008 at 4:17 AM Rating: Good
So I had received my T4 Leggings last night from Gruul, and found that my Heart-Flame Leggings gave me more +heals. I understand spreading out my stats, but is the 2-piece tier bonus worth it? Or should I stick with the Heart-Flame?

The T4 does give me a tad more intellect and some MP5 but the Heart-Flame gives 3 sockets with it.

I'm a bit unsure on which I want to use

mana regen is the big winner on the T4 legs even if you losing some +Healing.

with 2 piece bonus and the already built in mana regen your giving yourself about 18.5 more mana every 5 seconds, which is a big number for mana regen.

Yeah, I liked the fact that I was getting mp5 and some little bit of int, but wasn't sure if I should be losing about 20 or so +heals (this is with the Golden Spellthread... which is also on the Heart-Flame) by switching the legs.

But, sounds good, and I guess I'll be keeping the Kilt on. Perhaps, I can socket the Heart-Flame as an elemental piece (even if it's for heals). *shrug*

It's the gems that make Heart-Flame statistically better than T4. Since you can (and/or should) use rare or epic gems, they'll inflate the overall ilvl of the leggings. It's the same reason why Sun-Touched leggings is better than T6 legs despite being much easier to get.

That being said, there isn't too much difference between heart-flame and T4--I'd call them side-grades--especially if you factor in the 2-set bonus as worth roughly 7.5 m/5. I'd say keep both and switch them depending on whether the fight needs staying or healing power, but you should start looking to complete the 2-set T4 with another slot that would be a true upgrade.

Here's a great guide for resto gear: Skyhoof's Shaman Healing Gear for Raiders

Yeah, I've already gotten the T4 gloves to get the set bonus, just wasn't sure if that bonus was good enough to just keep the legs on or continue using the Heart-Flame ones.

I usually have no problem with mana, since I'm pretty good at conserving even with healing a lot, and I'm sure with the more runs, I'll get another upgrade to bring my +heals back up. But from what I can tell that you both are saying is that the mp5 upgrade isn't too shabby and would be nice to get. Unless, I'm misunderstanding

If your in T4 gear do not waste badges for gems on that stuff when you could be picking up some of the badass badge gear:

I wouldn't bother wasting badges when there is gear like this you can get for badges.

Yes T4 and the Heart-Flame are pretty close, but T4 gives a lot of mana regen where heart flame gives none. If you really enjoy the Heart-Flame then gem it up for pure Healing and use it, but hang onto the T4 for longer boss fights.

And seriously don't waste badges for epic gems for lower end gear, your just going to regret it later when you want a badge item and you realize you wasted X-amount of badges on gems for gear you replaced.

Yeah, I'm wanting to save up badges for the chestpiece at the very least. Since our guild is slowly starting to progress (slowly, but surely), I've had my eye on Dark Blessing from ZA.

As for gemming wise, I had the Heart-Flame gemmed with a couple of +9 heals, +x spell and +x int/mp5... one or the other. Can't remember which gems they were, but just some cheap blues.

I figured, if anything I can buy a cheap gem off the AH and have a JC in the guild cut it for me, if anything. I'm poor so I"ll take what I can get at the moment until I can get the money lol

So I found (after finally putting a Golden Spellthread on my T4), that the only thing I gain from them is a little bit more mp5. Other than that, my mana goes down, my crit chance goes down, and my bonus heals goes down.

So really, all I have to look for is the little bit of mp5 and the 2-set bonus.

17 healing and 1 int vs 14.5 mana/5 and 6 stam...

there is no big difference, imo the T4 are better for the mana, but the choice is yours if you had your heart set on heart flame so much why bother us with asking, it comes down to opinion here since the items are relatively close in value. some would prefer the 17 healing, some would prefer the 14 mana regen (which really is a big difference) but if you feel and felt that the mana regen is not needed for you then you should have realized that before putting a thread on it.

i am not gonna feel bad because you took my advice and didn't end up liking it.

Oh, I sure hope not. And it's not that I don't like it at all. Was just unsure about whether or not the mana regen was a big difference, that's all. And you've done a great job answering this for me.

I haven't had the chance to actually try out the new "threads" in things like raid boss fights, so perhaps if I make it to our guild's run tonight, I can test it out. The only chance I got was doing some dailies, and even then, that's not a good enough test since it's not mana intensive at all.

How about the 2-set bonus? Is that 3 mp5 a big difference as well? Which also just made me think, does that bonus spread among party members as well, or do they continue having the normal "mana spring" buff? (I'm going to continue looking at the FAQ to see if this was answer or not).

Anyway, I do like the look on my shammy with the kilt. Seems more healer like lol. Oh and on a note: My heart really isn't set on either/or, just was unsure =P...

Thanks again for the help jm

well 3 mp is linked to the totem which comes into affect every 2 seconds and affects your group so it is good just not amazing its average. Your almost always using this totem so it is worth it, just would be nice if they made a better version of this set bonus on something later on.
