PvP pet abilities..Follow

#1 Jul 22 2008 at 1:58 AM Rating: Good
Ok there are some nice pet pvp abilities in Woltk that would gives some chance in pvp. Some of them are:

1=Bats -Sonic Blast- Emits a piercing shriek, inflicting Nature damage and stunning the target for 2 sec.
(80 Focus, Instant, 20 yd range, 1 min cooldown.)

2=Birds of Prey -Snatch- The bird of prey grabs the enemy's weapon with its talons, causing damage and disarming them for 6 sec.
(40 Focus, Instant, Melee Range, 1 min cooldown)

3=Crabs- Pin- Pins the target in place, and squeezes for damage over 6 sec.
(80 Focus, Channeled, Melee Range, 20 sec cooldown.)

4=Hyenas- Tendon Rip- Tears at an enemy's legs for damage and reducing movement speed by 50% for 6 sec.
(25 Focus, Next melee, 20 sec cooldown)

5=Nether Rays -Nether Shock -Instantly lashes an enemy for Shadow damage. Also interrupts spellcasting and prevents any spell in that school from being cast for 1 sec.
(30 Focus, Instant, 20 yd range, 30 sec cooldown)

6=Ravagers -Ravage -Violently attack an enemy for damage, stunning it for 2 sec.
(80 Focus, Instant, Melee Range, 1 min cooldown)

7=Spiders- Web -Encases the target in sticky webs, preventing movement for 4 sec.
(80 Focus, Instant, 20 yd range, 2 min cooldown)

So as you can see pet would have a significant role in Wotlk pvp.
I am thinking that in Wotlk we would have 2 sec stun every 1 min,3 sec stun every 45 sec, scater shot every 30 sec, traps every 30 sec...hmm better1

For regular battleground play I think I'd like a hyena.

For arena I'd still stick with a scorpid or maybe a crab.

I like the crab ability but they are going to be slow like scorpions I bet. Now Hyenas if they can get dash (cant remember if they have it or not) that would be a good BG pet. Scorpion in arena for me still. gotta love the poisons

Personally think that a spore bat may also be viable...

Spore Cloud
Dusts nearby enemies with spores causing Nature damage every 3 sec for 9 sec and reducing armor.
(50 Focus, Instant, Melee Range, 10 sec cooldown)

Nature damage DOT for 9 seconds, 10 second CD and 15% amorur reduction would help keep those rouges out of stealth and help them go down just that bit faster.... Not sure if it is classified a "poison" per say in regards to hiding a viper sting, but still not to shabby.

So far as according to the beta, all pets will have access to dash or dive in their 1st tier of all pet trees. So your crab will be nipping at thier heals with the best of them, scorpids too!

Well the way I read it Prowl won't use talent points, does that sound right to you all?

Is the Tendon Rip a Hyena ability?
I thought it was for Crocolisks...
So in that case what pets use Bad Attitude (which is like a pet Revenge?)

they just haven't announced it yet, our kitty's ability is going to be called "leader of the pride" where your pet will call out to his pride and summon 20 other cats. They will first group up and spell out the words, "you lose" and then rip your target to pieces. 2 sec cooldown and 5 focus.

Yes, so far the Hyena family ability is Tendon Rip

Tears at an enemy's legs for damage and reducing movement speed by 50% for 6 sec.
(25 Focus, Next melee, 20 sec cooldown)

Crocolisks have received Bad Attitude

Snap back for damage at any target that strikes you for the next 2 min.
(25 Focus, Instant, Melee Range, 3 min cooldown)

As for Revenge, I can't say I've seen a skill or talent by that name yet...
#11 Jul 25 2008 at 7:57 AM Rating: Decent
Revenge is a warrior ability that causes you to counterattack at anyone who strikes you, or at least I think so. I might be wrong though.

Revenge is something warriors use when tanking to toss in some extra damage and aggro.
#14 Jul 27 2008 at 10:42 AM Rating: Good
When you block an attack you have a few seconds where you can use Revenge for high threat. Shield Block + Revenge combo is a standard Warrior move when tanking. Would be an interesting Pet threat generator if they could turn something like that over to pets. Still, I'd rather see a pet with Retaliation, heh...

I just don't know whether I would prefer the spell interrupt and silence, or the hamstring.

think about this though, with 3/3 longetivity (30% reduction in pet special abilities), crabs will be able to imobilize for 6 seconds with a 14 second cooldown, and crocs can have bad attitude up constantly, with a 6 second down time. Granted, like all pvp abilities that could possibly damage and cause our poor little rogues to QQ to the forums, these will be nerfed significantly before actual release.

That, and we havent seen what the exotic pets can do yet, the devilsaurs, if they become tamable with the 51 point bm talent, could possibly keep their fear? (its what they do in ungoro and what the level 71 does in netherstorm)
2 headed hounds were also tamable in BC beta for a very short time, and might keep one of the many corehound abilities from molten core.
Basalisks dont seem too far off the chain either, maybe a short stonegaze, and the target takes 25% aditional damage while.. stoned?
Pterrordax, the winged dinos, name implies a fear as well, like the elder ones do in ungoro.
thunderlizards, chimeras, and hydras will most likely get some type of nature damage spell or poison to inflict on enemies, hell, chimeras and hydras in general could have very creative abilities.

Bad Attitude is a tanking spell, and not for PvP. Pin is channeled, so while your pet is sitting there rooting someone (which will probably be trinketed out of), the healer will run off and drink because no pet following it means that it is out of combat.

but, tanking pets also get 40% bonus to heals, while a melee is beating your pet (and taking retaliation damage for it) the pet will be getting big heals (even while MS'ed will be either 90% or 70% of normal heals, depending if the factors add or multiply) and the hunter will most likely be shooting the person wasting time to kill the pet, The pet will have last stand, and a 10% bonus to hp and dodge to your party for 40 seconds, inherit resistances and talents to take 9% less damage from spells (not to mention 75% less from aoes), an intervene to take a possible death shot, will be an annoying adversary for everyone.

The talents look like they make the pet invulnerable, but really they don't. If the pet does manage to resist everything (hey, it's just random statistics), then they won't be focusing on your pet, they will move straight to you.

that is the point, a pet that s harder to kill will most likely be ignored, even though cunning is the "pvp tree" according to the npc screenshots in wotlk beta, i have yet to see where a lot of it will be useful over the survivability of say a scorpid utilizing the tanking tree. bullheaded is nice sure, but the 11 point talent replacing beastial swiftness, Masters call i believe, does the same job and in addition makes the pet immune for 4 seconds on a 3 min shorter cooldown (1 min). All i can see is cornered and feeding frenzy being viable talents for pets, but require either 35% health on the pet (nearly dead) or 20% health on the target (again nearly dead and usually executed pretty damn hard anyways) roar of recovery is nice to have for the longer fights, but will also require your pet to be alive, which the cunning tree doesnt seem to have as much survivability as the tanking tree.

Pretty sure Blizz said they were going to address pet scaling, and resilience in particular.

pretty sure Blizz said that all ptfamilies would get their own special ability.

Somewhere back at the start of vanilla WoW.

I personally think that Hyena's will be the PVP pet. They get Tendon Rip but they also get Charge, mix that with the 2 second longer Concussive, a Frost you can kite nearly any one with relative ease.

That isn't even going into the fact that Ferocity gets better stats and Loyality[2/2 for 10/20% for the pet's attacks to increase it's happiness by 10% and heal itself for 5% of it's max health ] and Call of the Wild[1/1 for 100 focus, 5 minute CD, 20 sec duration roar that increases melee and ranged attack power of all party members within 20 yards by 5% ] are great talents for PVP, imo.

At the very least it will be one of the pets I am using, probably the most from the looks of things.
