The Rune Mastery talents also become a disadvantage if you want to keep Blade Barrier up. I think more changes are yet to come.

Based on the current information, how effective do you think hybrid builds will be? Something like Blood Aura + Runic Power Master + Necrosis.

I'm using a build very similar to your blood build and it works very well. The Death and Destruction coupled with Obliteration makes for a messy pile of carcasses.

Yeah, I doubt I'll be switching to any different builds until the new beta build goes live, as blood is fairly destructive at the moment. It's ridiculous how fast you kill stuff once you get DND.

I haven't found myself playing my DK much in the past week or two, mainly because I play to get an idea for the specs, then I get bored with leveling through content I'm currently seeing on other characters.

I'll definitely play a DK to 80 in WotLK, but it won't be my main unless something changes with rogues.

I've tested a deep unholy build and, while fun, it's not as viable, at least to my playstyle, as a Blood/unholy combination. I do plan to try out a deep frost spec next but I will post some info about dps and all if I can. I have a few mods I have gotten to work so I will see if I can get Recount working to track overall DPS with a pet and without on each spec.

Granted, specs and talents will change, being the beta nature and all but this should give people some additional info and I will be able to input some definite data into the wiki.

A lot of interesting stuff.

Hello Theo! I must say i have grown even more excited about the DK from what you have posted than what Blizzard itself has said. I may have missed a post but i have to ask, what have you to tell us about a Frost spec? particularly for lvling because i personally think it could do fairly well. But supporting this or bashing it to the ground would be helpful in my DK future . Thank you and keep the posts rolling in.

Theo, there is another post regarding the following DK ability.

Instantly attack the target, dealing 60% weapon damage and inflicting a disease dealing 98 over 21 sec. Any existing heal over time spells on the target become corrupted, dramatically increasing the damage done by the disease and removing the healing effect.

I was wondering how much runic power it costs and if it had any excessive CD. The other post clearly states the usefulness of this against druids and priests (i disagree about it being massively useful against priests) i was just wondering if you had tested this ability out or not and what sort of comments any one has about it?

Can't wait to see the main tank killed by this once the Deathknight is mind controlled by a mob, such as the ones close to Murmur.

lol yeah a combination of a death knight as DPS and a druid healer could be bad in an instance with any form of Mind Control.
"I think those HoTs would look better as an insanely deadly Disease" Mind controlled DK

You may rest assured that DK anti-HoT ability will remain marginal. The devs bounced that ability from extremely powerful (all HoTs gone in one strike) back down to crappy (one HoT gone per strike) and now back up again, clearly they are trying to find a way for Druids to beat Death Knights some of the time. Without HoTs a Druid is basically a walking meal for most classes, since they became so ridiculously dependent on Frenzied Regeneration and popping Caster Form to heal.

Basically I doubt it will stay the same, dispelling ALL HoTs with a single Strike. If so, it will be put on some form of timer or resource cooldown so it's not spammable. This of course makes you wonder what the point is, since Lifebloom heals a chunk when it's dispelled anyway, and Druids don't have much trouble reapplying their instant HoTs, nor will Shamans or Priests. Nice little dispel toy but it's so finely balanced on timing it'd have to be overpowered to have a use, really.

Give -20% healing Disease!

EDIT: On Murmur etc, the good news is the AI never uses the correct abilities. I've seen my Paladin pop Wings and then proceed to wail on the tank using... Seal of Justice. Same with the Warlock, Blackheart the Inciter usually sees half my group with Curse of Recklessness / Elements. The AI is (luckily) dumb as a brick.

I've read a blue post a while back is that it doesn't dispel hots, it removes them.

Does this mean rogue will be like the only class can do well again DK? From I been reading it sound like DK will do well again most other class. I know blizzard like try to balance class so if you master one class another class might master you.

Being able to pop Icebound Fortitude for instant stun immunity and armour increase doesnt sound so hot for a Stun-reliant class. You can always Blind the DK but there's trinkets for that and his Ghoul can stun you back.

I don't really think Rogues can hope for exceptional luck against DKs, parity at best.

have the best races for a DK been edited since the change to racials? I am thinking a Belf looks best for horde now, or is this horribly wrong? Would the silence not come in handy for really just blowing through a caster
