Spreadsheet DPS vs actual DPS discrepanciesFollow

Hi folks,

This is me: http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Stormscale&n=Nats

I'm writing because I'm experiencing a pretty wide discrepancy between the DPS I should be getting from the spreadsheet (about 1620), and the DPS I am getting in actual gameplay (barely breaking 1k).

My rotations are 1s or 2s/5r, with the occasional 5 point Evis or EA (when there's no warrior present since we have a lot of Druid tanks that switch to kitty on bosses, i.e Tidewalker).

The weapons I generally use are the right Badge Fist, and Akil'Zon's TalonBlade. I have access to several other weapons (the left Badge fist, Quickening Blade of the Prince, S1 Quickblade, Spiteblade, etc), as well as a few pieces of armor (ZA shoulders, all T4, etc)... I understand the the left fist is the highest DPS weapon, but the common thought seems to be that Fist/Sword will outperform Fist/Fist due to the Sword Spec being superior to Fist Spec, and the inherent Sword WeX that comes from being human.

I'm unfortunately Scryer, and therefore don't use the SSO neckpiece unless it's for trash. Aside from the ZA neck, I also have the Worgen, but haven't been using it much as of late.

Figuring it was my hit rating, at one point, I got my hit rating to about 330 self buffed, and found that my DPS was even lower, so I started stacking haste instead. I still feel that I'm not maximizing my potential - our enhance shammies still top the meters on fights like Leo.

Could you kindly point out if there's anything I'm doing wrong?

Thanks in advance.

First make sure you go down and have the correct buffs listed. the default buffs include a LOT of things that are usually only ALL present during raid bosses.

Second how's your rotation, do you have to kick or stun? is stuff dieing too quickly? are you wasting energy or not waiting long enough?
movement during combat kills dps, so those things need to be considered. the spreadsheet is a best-case during a boss fight.

BadgeFist+BadgeFist is best for you at this time.

Fist Sword only wins when the sword is 1.4 speed or has higgher DPS than ZA sword.

EDIT: Make sure to never drop SnD either. Some of the better fights for seeing your actual DPS are VR, Morogrim, and Eagle boss.

My rotation on boss fights is 1-2s / 5r. I occasionally do a 5-point Evis, or (if there are no warriors present to sunder) I'll do an Expose Armor.

For trash, it's 1s and either Evis (if we're burning the mob), or Rupture.

I do solid DPS on trash, but on the extended fights (Lurker, Tidewalker, Leo) I tend to trail to 4th-5th place, trailing after similarily-geared hunters on enhance shammies .

On lower-armored targets (Solarian, Eagle Avatar), I'm usually first, with decent DPS.

The one thing I'd never considered was the threshold where the Fist/Sword starts to outshine the Fist/Fist -- and I thank you for that. I'll stick the Talon back in the bank and try out Fist/Fist for a while.

Thanks again for your comments -- any other comments / criticisms / suggestions welcome!

Cheers,

-n

P.S. Edit: Hmmm -- it looks like I was using some boss debuffs that weren't a constant in our raids. Apparently, I need to L2Spreadsheet.

Actually the only fight where I got close to the spreadsheet DPS numbers was with Morogrim.
That happened only after I:
1 - cleaned the spreadsheet from debuffs like improved faerie fire, which we never had, and some things that looked like horde stuff
(basically disabled everything and only put back what I knew we were using)
2 - got a proper DPS group (shaman, warrior, hunter?) and a full complement of pallies for once

Same with me, it shows me my "rough" DPS to be about 1575, whereas i cant get over 1100DPS.

Edit: Using alldriana's.

Edit: You know what I EPIC FAIL, i totally was checking the spreadsheet out and came across the buffs page.. hmm, turns out every buff known to man was ticked.. so i changed it to what i would normally have.. and voila its showing 1150 dps now.. GG

Steps to using a spreadsheet:

1) Input your spec and armor.
2) Input your buffs.
3) Input boss armor.
4) Play with rotation to get maximum DPS; follow rotation.*

GGGLHF.

* = Vulajin's spreadsheet only.

Hey Nats,

Asid from whats been discussed, I'd suggest moving the 5 points from Deflection into talents that actually increase your damage output. ie 4 into vile or imp poisons with the extra going to imp kick or Nerves of Steel.
