BTW shouldn't it be called Earth Frost and Fire?... anyways...

A lot of people have been complaining on the O Boards that this talent will suck, didn't seem to bad to me, obviously the proc on frost shock is a great PvP buff, any chance to make kiting a little bit easier is a good one, 5 yards on earth shock also seems like a decent tool for pvp. Flame shock sounds awesome for pve and pvp, I use flame shock pretty often in pvp and whenever appropriate in pve, it can pull off major damage.

I don't get why many people feel this talent is gimp, I don't feel it is but I do have a desire for any of my talents to be stronger lol. I think the only way this talent could be buffed if it is needed would be to make each point give 1 more yard for all shocks (total of 5 yards for all shocks) and have earth shocks increase the length it keeps a caster out of interrupted school for a second longer (make better use of our interrupt time to actually do some damage or really keep a healer locked down).

anyhow is this talent really no good, cause when I first looked at it, it seemed awesome.

There's not a thing wrong with that talent. Could it be better? Yes. Technically, everything in this game could be better. Maybe Blizzard will buff it a little, they probably won't, doesn't really matter. Right now it's worth taking and barring an outrageous change to it by the time launch hits, it'll still be worth taking.

It's pretty good for PvP, but still worth taking for PvE. The major reason is that now Flame Shock is going to be in the cast rotation thanks to Lava Burst, so you might as well pick it up for the extra damage.

Is adding a shock into the cast rotation going to kill our mana longevity? I haven't spent a lot of time looking over it but it doesn't seem like they added a whole lot to that side.

Well they added lava burst which will consume your flame shock and instantly crit, lava burst is a fire spell does more dmg then lightning bolt, and has a 8 second cool down last I checked, so basicaly with a flame shock>LBx3>Lava Burst rotation you are guaranteed a elemental focus for you next flame shock which will tick for a lot with all the spell damage and talents we are getting, although if mana is a problem we could also LBx3>flame shock rank 1>lava burst.

Basically it gives us the option to gear for more spell hit (losing 6% hit from talents) and haste (at the moment haste scales well for shaman but makes us sacrifice a lot of crit until SWP geared)

But then again we may still just LB spam will see.

You'd still want to go Flame Shock>LB x 3>Lava Burst even if you're using R1. Free damage is free damage, after all.

well i wouldn't want flame shock wasting my elemental focus too much and since it is going to happen when both spells stick for sure I would rather put it in the rotation avoiding my elemental focus charges, if your using rank 1 it is specifically to save mana.

While I believe this talent is a little bit underpowered it's not the talent itself that I have a problem with, but the fact that you need to get 5/5 in that talent in order to get thunderstorm. Thunderstorm is an awesome 51 point talent which I am looking forward to. If Storm, Earth, Fire didn't need 5/5 in order to get thunderstorm I would probably just use it as a filler for the few talent points I would need in order to get to the next level.

In Enhancement, Malestrom Weapon isn't required in order to get Feral Spirit, and Malestrom is actually good, yet a lack luster talent such as S,E,F is needed for Thunderstorm? No thank you, I feel like I'm wasting a few good talents that could could better used elsewhere.

Flame Shock rank 7
Lightning Bolt rank 12

So using an Elemental Focus proc on Flame shock saves you 200 mana, while using it on Lightning Bolt will only save you 120 mana. Why would you think it's a waste if Flame Shock is already in your rotation?

I ignored Convection and Elemental Oath, but since they reduce the amount of mana by a percent they affect both in a similar way, diffrentially speaking.

Sorry if I misread your post, it was tad confusing to follow,
Yuval.

I was talking about flame shock rank one sorry if you misunderstood. If I was going to use flame shock rank one specificaly to get elemental focus to save mana I would use a Lbx3>flame shock(rank 1)>lava burst. This would ensure my next 2 spells after lava burst will have elemental focus ready to use for them.

otherewise if mana is not an issue and we can maintain it well i would use flame shock (max rank)>LBx3>lava burst
