RED Follow

I know we just had a conversation about this, but I'm a nub and forget things. RED is preferred, or SSD for metas? Only reason I ask, I'm trying to sub the Tunic of the Dark Hour in for my glad chest (only shi**y one left) for the AP gain, but I deactivate my RED in doing so. Switching to SSD has less reqs to activate, is this worth it?
Theo's compendium still says SSD, but I thought I saw RED was preferred, but again, maybe I'm just that slow :)
