Preparing for 70 (bg marks)Follow

#1 Jul 17 2008 at 12:17 PM Rating: Decent
I'm currently a level 59 WAR who has stopped leveling to do some battlegrounds as it is substantially easier to get marks in my level range on my server than it is at level 70 (our server is very alliance heavy and I'm horde, and I hear we don't do so well in high level BGs).

I'm looking for advice regarding which areas have staple pieces of gear (if any) for a war who will be a primarily tanking end game (although I'm talented for PvP atm) and approximately how many marks I should hope to accumulate in the various BGs. If anyone happens to know this off hand I would greatly appreciate input, as the amount of loot in this game is staggering and I really can't keep it all straight yet when it comes to the different factions, battlegrounds, raids, and arena rewards that come into play end game.

Alternatively, maybe it's not worth grinding the marks (although I do enjoy the PvP and perhaps grinding isn't the right word...yet) and raid/arena gear is simply better. Either way, I'd appreciate some input. Thanks

BG's are cross server. Your server's population distribution doesn't have anything to do with BG queue waits or how hard BG runs are.

Oh really? That's cool, thanks didn't know that. But the question still stands.

The only pvp gear actually suited to tanking are the shields, which have higher armor and block value than anything you'll see before ZA. Practically everything else simply lacks tanking stats.

Not much else from the Arena or the BG's really matter to warrior tanks. One of the long standing complaints from prot warriors is that we have no place in PvP. Our abilities are gimped or completely ignored, we don't do enough DPS to make a difference, and there really is nothing for us to do. With really fantastic gear, a prot warrior can be an asset in a 5v5 team, but the gear level required to do that makes it out of reach for everyone not in t5 gear or better.

It really irks me that warlock's psychological attacks (fear) makes a warrior run away screaming like a little girl, but the warrior can't taunt the warlock to make him target the warrior an not be able to attack anyone else for 6 seconds.

I don't think I'll ever quite understand why they just don't let PvP actually play by the same rules as the rest of the game. Why gimp abilities against other players? And why gimp some classes more than others?

Anyway . . .

If THINK the shields are on EoS marks, and are around 20,000 honor. But it's been awhile, so maybe someone who is more pvp oriented can step up on that question.
