lol... I see you didn't put this in the mage forum... looking for an answer like that in the rogue forums will get you a roguish answer. However, I play both a mage and a rogue (my mage I play better than my rogue for now)... I'd still go rogue. The race questions and such are in the sticky.

I thought this was a Mage vs Rogue 1on1 tactic topic =P

I'd say rogue. I've levelled my mage to 35 and rogue to 70 and I think I can safely say rogues have an easier time leveling. They seem to be on par with mages, minus the squishyness and constant dying.
The thing is, rogue panic buttons simply > mage panic buttons, ánd rogues wear leather.
For a rogue: If you aggro multiple mobs you hit evasion. If sh*t's really hitting the fan and it's melee mobs you hit sprint and run off. If you're REALLY getting your *** handed to you you hit vanish. Technically, prior to 67 the only mobs you can die to while paying attention are those that have DOTs breaking your vanish while still in the middle of an enemy camp.
For a mage: If you aggro 1 mob you 3-shot him. You then do it again and run OOM. If you aggro 2 mobs, hope you can sheep one, if you can, no problem. If you aggro 3 mobs, frost nova and run. If you aggro 3 ranged mobs, ice block, wait 10 seconds, then die.

And I've even levelled my rogue with a 20/20/20-like spec. Should only get easier with combat.

Rogue over Mage, no contest. I have a 70 Mage, loved it (still do actually), but I love my rogue more ;-)

The only time I've ever preferred my Mage over my Rogue was when I was in a BRD run with a 70 Pally tank. I was around 55 and fire spec'd.

The Pally picked up half the instance, I AoE'd the **** out of it. Rinse and repeat.

Thats the only time.

I agree with alot that you say here Moz, and I LOVE my rogue, but mages AOE grinding is a very effective way to level or farm. If you do it right you can do multiple groups before needing to stop and get mana(as frost of course). It is almost the same as fighting 3+ mobs as a rogue. You need to eat after 3 mobs if your evasion and such are on cooldown. Also, I personally eat after 3 because I play on a PvP server and their is always a chance of getting ganked. I don't mind getting ganked, but I like to have full health so I can have the best chance to win. Rogues are awesome, but I rather enjoy my mage as well. I do agree that rogues tend to level faster than all classes accept maybe locks. Imp at level 4 or 6 and fear at 8 makes locks level pretty fast, but then again hunters can level fast too.
