I leveled as demonology and staying that way. The felguard is just too awesome to pass up.

I leveled my lock (currently 73, been shelved since I was leveling my Pally to 80) as Demo for Felguard up until Outlands, specifically HFP. I found that, especially in that one Orc camp area, I was constantly getting swarmed and I was often leaving combat practically dead and oom... my Felguard being in the same situation. I switched to deep Affliction after that and haven't turned back since. I kill so fast and typically end fights with even more health and mana than when I was Demo. As someone else said I use the Voidy when I need to take on an elite or something, for the initial aggro hold, otherwise I usually drain tank with a Felhunter.

I leveled as affliction, it seems most warlockish spec :)
But recently (after WotLK) I've started experimenting with improved imp on alternative realms, it has quite good dps.

I've been affliction for as long as I can remember. And I really mean that cause I don't remember what exactly I started as. I just know that at some point I went affliction. Any ways, I'm really happy with it. I find it really easy to level with. Haunt, Siphon Life, Shadow Mastery, etc. etc. are great survival talents for soloing.

I'm addicted to Demo - to fun and too easy and with the various improved tallents and upgrades, is completely idiot resistant.

For groups or elites, its void walker all the way - the guy's almost indestructable now and a genius at holding agro - if you wanted to you could just toss dots on the mob and then sit back and chain heal him to defeat almost anything.

Less dangerous mobs get to play with the sucubus at lower levels while I drain tank or the felguard once I've got him - he's now actually worth using, capable of holding agro, dishing out and taking damage.

I did do a short stint with afliction before the xpac but it wasn't working for me - that doesn't mean its bad, it just means it didn't work for me - there's a jillion aflic locks out there that can happily hand any mob it's **** to prove it.

I really want to give destro a try too, but I can't get past the mindset of 'if I want to nuke then I'll play my mage.'

I've played around with a few builds but I leveled affliction and always seem to go back to that.

Well very soon your imp is going to get ollllllllllld.

I have leveled 1-79 (like ten more bars to 80) as demonology, and i love it. I have zero downtime with my felguard and survivability is great. Sometime if i aggro like 5-6 more mobs i can DoT them and have the felguard hold aggro most of the time and keep my and his health usually full or 3/4 way full. Especially if you have questhelper like i do, makes questing sooooooo much easier. And when i am in groups for dungeons I am always first or second on damage meters.

So yea my suggestion is too go demonology now or wait till you can get your felguard, after that its fun and easy.
