Learn it, Live it, Love it.

The difference in armour between mail and leather doesn't mean a hill of beans when raiding and you get 2 shotted regardless, it's all about those stats.

if youre just encountering this issue, you must have just gotten access to mail. while, using mail armor will increase your survivability in pvp at 40, you shouldnt rush to get rid of all your leather right away, as some of it will have much better stats than lvl 40 mail. As you continue leveling you'll be able to gradually replace your gear with items that give better stats and armor.

Is it me or is there a lot of threads talking about the choice of Mail or Leather , The only thing that matters is the stats.

I think the sticky might say something about it but the basics are

1.Agility + Attack Power later in levels when that becomes available.
2.stamina or thats my choice.
3.Intellect/Spirit.

For me thats what i try and look for and in the priority i think is best for me , as a hunter the only thing that matters is how fast you can kill things and my number 1 is both the things that make it possible.

I would not worry that much as when you get to outland i guarantee even with leatherworking maxed you will still change most of what you have with either drops or quest rewards very fast.

Bladed Chaos Tunic is the best in slot chest for hunters. The leather helm from Kil is also the best in slot head for some situations, while the mail one is in others.

I refuse to wear leather because I burn thru mana fast and need the +Int that comes with the mail gear

I myself use a combination of both mail and leather. The armor doesn't mean much since your pet will be doing most of the fighting unless your pvp specced mm and raiding. But for me I use both. Bandit gear is what I shoot for mostly. Occasionaly I'll throw in some int+ if I'm in need of it. But I'm still learning.

Thoromin,

Leather vs. mail has always been a hot topic of discussion.
Bottom line is, whichever gives you a better upgrade.

In raids, the armor rating doesn't matter since you will get 1/2 shotted anyways.

If you look at Agi and AP, you might find that leather armor give more of these then mail does,
However, do know that in raiding intellect is essential to hunters as we are one of the fastest
classes going oom.

If you're leveling, then some leather gear is fine as mana isn't really an issue,
at 70, if you have a leather epic vs a mail green, then def leather is better. Just
check out the stats, but do remember that intellect plays a part in it.

I just want to throw out there the extra armor you have also provides benefit to your pet, especially for the BM types. I still recommend being stats-conscious when making a decision between your gear. But the if the extra pet mitigation keeps little scruffy alive just a bit longer before the mobs jump you it can be worth it. It can also be worth it and little jinxers does bite it and you have that extra protection to last those last crucial minutes.

Most of the time if my pet drops in battle do to pulling more mobs then it can handle I'll back up before hand and lay a freeze trap. One will run into to it and by that time the cool down on traps is done and so i just lay down a frost trap and run with cheetah aspect on. Works every time for me unless I run into a mob and well we all know that with cheetah aspect on taking damage will slow you down lol. But all in all I also have wingclip to my advantage to.

I'm all about the stats. Lots of agi, stam, and AP with occasional +hit. Not level 70 yet. Can't wait. Ok back to leveling.
