I read here that it is a good idea to respec at 40 in order to correct mistakes made by a new player. I also see that some end game players respec often. How much does it cost to respec? Does that depend on your level or the number of times you did it? I sure made some dumb choices early on so this could easily apply to me. Any advice?

I believe your first respec costs 1g, 2nd costs 5g, 3rd costs 10g, 4th+ costs 25g.
Although it may have changed ... I just respecced last night fully expecting to pay 25g, but only paid 10g.

As to whether or not to respec: your best bet is to link your armory and let the mad-skillz warriorz comment on your build. (chuck this, keep that, etc)

it keeps going up every respec until you hit the cap of 50g per. the first ones are cheap enough that it's worth doing to try out different things or correct mistakes.
if you keep a particular spec for a long time, i think the cost starts to decay until it bottoms out around 15g.

It's not really duration, you just have 5g shaved off the price each month to a minimum of 10g. You can have not respecced at all or respec twice a week, but it'll still slightly lower the price.
I wish blizzard would make the respec like hunters pet respecs. It resets after a few days. :D
