Which one is better to use. I'm using a cat and i'm a solo hunter. Currently 56 going for the 41/20 cookie build. Just curious. I'm using claw/dash and growl with greater stamina.

Use bite first. If you see you always have energy add claw.

For DPS, use Claw and Bite. Bite has higher TPF (Threat Per Focus) than Claw, but isn't spammable. While soloing, I've found that Bite has a higher prio than Growl, so it slows down my pet's threat gen. I usually turn Bite off and use only Growl and Claw as damage abilities (if I've got a pet who has those two abilities, ofc).

I am quite sure that I have read here and elsewhere that a claw capable pet should have only claw trained as bite will waste focus and lead to lower DPS due to missed claw opportunities. Can't find the post now but looking for it.....

Edited to say: I appear to be wrong here. The super hunters at TKA seem to agree that bite will add a little DPS. Got to respec pet and tell hunters in my guild I was wrong again.

I continue using claw. I enjoy the ability being as its instant cast.

As I alluded to on your other post regarding stripes and talent points, I'd never waste the points in bite if you have claw on a pet. The only mobs that will ever pull off of a pet with it's claw and growl maxed was too high a level for a person to get involved with in the first place, and the bite is no help there. If you are MM or Surv spec'd, well, you never really relied on kitty to hold the aggro in the first place, I hope. Keep those extra talent points for that other stuff and keep those claws a flashin!

Since the changed the way pet aggro works, I use bite until I get points in focus regen then switch to claw.
Cheekey's has shown that bite+claw = reduced dps on longer fights. Claw allows crit-based talents to proc more often.

That's funny, when I did a little research for the earlier post it was cheeky himself at TKA who said that bite+claw=more DPS, thus I edited my post. I am not one to argue hunter math with cheeky.

What is it, four skills your Pet can learn.

Claw appears to be the focus dump di jour and Cower is becoming more useful.

With a Cat, for example, that gives you Growl, Claw, Dash and Cower. No room for Bite.
