Bliz got somethin against trinkets?Follow

I am more than saddened by the pathetic droprate of the Dragonspine, Berserker's call and Tsunami. I can't count how many times I've killed these bosses and the only thing I've seen is the Dragonspine drop a couple times, only to go to shaman :(

I'm sure there are many others out there like me with great gear, wearing the abicus still and wondering why bliz won't free up a few more trinkets for us.

It's funny you say this. I was on my hunter when DST dropped and my main is an enhance shammy, so imagine my disgust when a hunter got the trinket because I'm not about to give that thing to my alt...

Leo's just a stingy prick.

Also, I got exalted with CoT w/o ever getting the Hourglass on either the Huntard or the Shammy.

1/1 on my shard from the Priestess though.

Agreed. I have down'ed all those bosses countless times and still have only seen each one drop maybe once and go to another dps class to losing a roll or not enough dkp because I wanted T5 instead.

I should have mentioned the cool trinkets from heroic MagT with the conspicuously absent hunter trinket :(

My guild has had 4 DSTs and 6 Tsunami talismans (I got a tsunami but haven't gotten a DST yet). It obviously isn't blizzard's fault.

It's your fault! You are hording them all!

Blizz' problem is more itemization.

DST is still incredibly powerful and trinkets is a very bad example of itemization.
I got my DST about 12 months ago. It dropped on our second Gruul kill (and nobody knew how powerful it really was so I got it for minimum DKP as I read about that trinket on EJ some days before).

Now I'm fighting in sunwell plateau (3/6 currently, working on 4/6) and I'm still wearing that trinket. It is plainly too good for where it drops which causes a lot of problems (e.g. that people still do that boss because that trinket just does not drop although they are cappable to down T5 or T6 bosses).

On the bright side - Heroic Black Morass is a piece of cake now (heard that Blizz made it easier, never ran it on heroic before yesterday) Guild run of peeps with a mix of T4 and badge gear took 30mins - 10 mins per badge. The damn hourglass didn't drop but everyone is in agreement we should run it at least a couple of times a week for the easy badges. Bound to get the damn thing sooner or later now.

Good luck with the hourglass. I lost the roll twice to other classes. I made exalted before I finally got my hourglass.

I started typing out this same exact thread a few weeks ago. I decided that it's not normally my style to make new threads to QQ, but I suppose I'll jump into someone elses to.

I have killed Leotheras 12+ times and have never seen the damn talisman drop. I got all excited when my guild decided to take a break from BT/Hyjal to go back to take down Vashj, because I thought that it would give me a few extra opportunities to kill Leo. Nope! My raid leader joined another guild's SSC run on his alt to get the Raid ID. All the bosses were down, and that guild wasn't going to even attempt Vashj. We took her down with 1 night of serious attempts. My T5 helm didn't even drop. 3 pally/rogue/shaman tokens (but that's another rant).

I've only seen DST drop twice. The first time I saw it, I let my boyfriend take it because he's a rogue, and would get better use out of it. The second time I saw it, it was with an open-roll PuG and I lost to a hunter that was doing 500 DPS while I topped out the chart with 1400.

I've never killed Zul'jin because I'm cursed when it comes to ZA runs. Troll Voodoo, I swear.

Let us not forget about the TALON OF ALAR!!!!! ZOMG! The trinket that PROVES that Blizzard has no knowledge of hunter mechanics. This T5-level trinket only effects SPECIAL SHOTS, and not Autoshot, making it worse than a level 68 blue trinket that can be picked up from a non-heroic 5-man instance.

I don't think that I'll be able to upgrade my Hourglass until I hit exalted with the Ashtounge... Which will be a while. I'm only going to JUST hit revered this weekend... Maybe.

I'm pretty sad about the selection of rings, as well. I never got Garona's Signet. Hydross has never dropped the ring of Lethality for me (again, 12+ kills on him), and I'm scared that Shade of Akama will hate me just as much as Hydross and Curator. I guess I'm just going to have to wait until my guild decides to go back for Kael'Thas, so I can get my Hyjal ring. I'm already exalted with the Scale of the Sands.

This is why I am thinking of dropping skinning for Alchemy. Of course the need for mats to level LW in WOTLK has me on the fence.

The problem with trinkets is that anyone can use them, there aren't very many of them, and the ones that are any good are even fewer. Therefore, even if they have an even droprate with other items, they still end up being fought over. Dragonspine Trophy in particular is a very poignant example because of the raw impact it has on your character. Any class that uses physical attacks wants it -- some deserve it more than others, but who exactly that is seems to always be in debate.

The other issue with trinkets is that you get two of them. The other two slots I would describe with this peculiarity -- neck and back -- you only have one of, so if you can finally get that one elusive necklace or cloak, you're set. But with trinkets, once you get one, you're still stuck with finding a second one. I was using Bladefist's Breadth until I got exalted with BT faction, and even then I'm not sure if it's an upgrade for me or not. (Yes, I had that much trouble even getting abacus or hourglass, and I didn't think the badges were worth it for the brooch.) My second trinket was Mark of Conquest, which I have loved to death because of how anti-consumable I am, so even though it's not the best DPS option, I'd need a good reason to replace it.
