I was skimming over the potential talens from the Druids on MMO-champion and saw that druids will now hoave a normal rez spell. If that is true wont we be one of the most powerful healers than anyone else with battle and normal rez? Is this to be the golden age of druid healers?

Currently it's listed as a level 80 spell. 1-79 is a long stretch with just our trusty battle rez, so it will only add to our utility in end game only. It will be a welcome addition, but it doesn't mean druid healers are better then any other.

According to MMO-champ you get the first level of this at lvl 12 like everyone else? Where are you getting your info from?

You get the first level of your battle res (30 min cooldown, uses reagent) at 12.

The new reuseable res is a different spell that you won't get til 80 (allegedly)

Even if it's slightly earlier, it won't make Druids better at healing overall. We'd just be better at ressing.

The new spell will overtake as our main res, leaving the battle res purely as an 'Oh Sh*t' res. One with a 30 min cooldown no less, so hardly gamebreaking as you'll still only get one chance to use it per boss fight. Although I wouldnt be surprised if they increased the cooldown somewhat.

ATM Brez has a 20 minute cooldown. Are they planning on increasing the time?

As far as I know they're not planning to change the cooldown. I believe he just had a slip of the tongue and listed Rebirth's previous cooldown. It was changed a few patches ago from 30 minutes to 20 minutes.

Ah you are correct! My apologizes, I was looking at some out-dated information.

MMO-Champion Restoration Skills

Revive rank 1 will be learned at level 12.

Quote:
Returns the spirit to the body, restoring a dead target to life with 65 health and 120 mana. Cannot be cast when in combat. 10 sec cast, 72% of base mana, 30 yd range

While Rebirth rank 1 is still at level 20 with a regent and a 20 minute cooldown.

Quote:
Returns the spirit to the body, restoring a dead target to life with 400 health and 700 mana.
68% of base mana, 2 sec cast, 30 yd range, 20 min cooldown

I agree with Rasen, it will take the place as our main rez but I don't believe we'll be any more sought after because of it. We'll just be better at clean up. XD

This is definitely a welcome addition, but I don't think it will make us the #1 sought-after healing class. We still can't cure disease or cleanse magic effects, but it does go a long way towards increasing our usefulness.

This is awesome the lack of rez was IMHO the biggest draw back to druid healer. As when filling out the last slot of a 5 man if there is no rez except 1 b-rez and I have a choice between another druid or a class with better rez I will really have to think about it. Now I will go druid way more often.

Remember the other classes will be getting overhauls as well, as well as their own kickass new talents. I haven't checked any other class's WotLK talent trees, but could see Blizz giving the other healing classes fancy fun stuff like a talented battle rez of their own, or mass resurrection, or or or or...I dunno, they're more creative than I am. And with both our potential talents and their potential talents being nothing more than potential, who knows how it'll shake out.

But we're a hybrid class and as such kinda need to have some (very very tiny) gaps and (very very slight) weaknesses in each of our roles. Properly spec'd we're currently the only class that can kick *** at a B+/A- level in any of the four primary roles in the game: healing, melee dps, casting dps, and tanking. Hell we're even the 'best of the best' at healing or tanking some types of situations thanks to things like our strength with HoTs, insane armor/hp, or non-polymorphable-ness. That's beyond good for the most hybrid/versatile class in the game -- let's not get greedy and hope for A++ at stuff now.

My $.02

No slip, I thought it was still 30 mins. Must've changed before my interest in Druid came back, and it's been a long time since I've actually used Rebirth. As a tank, I'm usually on the receiving end of resses :D

I tried out one of the possible talent calculators, and I saw that there are too many new toys to play with. I can't get all the dps and tanking talents in one spec. Oh well...other tanking classes can't dps at all in tanking spec; I should be happy and take what I can get.

And yes, I am going to completely bypass the rest of the thread because I don't want to talk about resto, or a possible normal rez. It really won't be all that useful to me personally. If I am alive and the healer is dead, then something went wrong. I could rez the healer anyway. And then the healer could rez whoever else died. Unless it was a druid. Wait, I don't have to worry about that anymore....

Yep, looks like we're getting the other classes' used toys. They'll still be fun, and as Jeebar said we're good enough already at everything ;)

Still hoping for rogue's used toy Vanish

If we got vanish, rogues would have to get one of our oh **** buttons. I think barkskin tranquility is out of the question, so the other options are travel form and bear form. Oh wait, they have sprint, so that rules out travel form. What you really have to ask yourself is this: would you really swap bear form for vanish? I mean, bear form is the only way I can kill rogues (but it is rediculously easy to do so if they dont catch you in cat or caster). If they had bear form too how would I kill them?

They have bear form. It's called evasion/cheat death.

I only meant that our abilities tend to mimic what the other full fledged classes obtain earlier, which is fine given our nature. Also, I don't seriously hope for vanish. It would just make me insanely happy ;)

I also meant specifically for our feral tree, as the new resto skills seems innovative, not copycat abilities. That's very positive :)

Speaking of cheat death, did you see the extensive changes they made to cheat death with today's patch? I don't know enough about how it's worked to date to know how dramatic the change is, but it looks like as dramatic an ability change as I've seen and certainly seems like it will have substantially less "WTF Y WONT YOU DIE!!??!!" to it.

"Cheat Death: This talent has been rebalanced significantly. Killing blows are no longer 100% absorbed. If the Rogue is below 10% health, the killing blow is still completely absorbed; if the Rogue is over 10% health, enough damage will be absorbed to reduce the Rogue's health down to 10%. For the following 3 seconds, damage is not always reduced by 90%; it is now reduced by a maximum of 90%, depending on how much resilience the Rogue has. The damage reduction will be four times the damage reduction resilience causes against critical strikes."

I haven't seen dire cat form referenced in any of the talents or ability lists, either. I was also hoping to get a screen shot of the supposed new dire bear form.

I don't want much for dire cat. Just burning footprints and lasers coming out of the eyes. And maybe some fixes to stupid model stuff, like how when you sit down your waist becomes extremely small. Also, some in-form emotes would be nice. A new tauren flight form would also be appreciated, because (in case you didn't know) currently it is just a brown version of the NElf one. That's right, I haven't bought epic mount training and done the chain, so I am forced to fly around with rediculously huge and pointy ears....

Well if I ever went back to Resto on my Shaman I'd be up in arms about this current iteration of the new talents.

The shaman tree has one truly awesome ability (Spirit Link) and apart from that is really light on the smaller types of improvements peppered throughout the new Druid tree. Spirit Link may outshine Flourish, but overall I'm a lot more excited about the potential of making my druid a healbot for WOTLK than I am about the shaman (who I'll probably leave as elemental, since that tree did see some excellent improvement)

You know those storm crows? The ones out in the wild that hunters can tame? Yeah, they have those ears too.
At least your brown and not following every hunter with a bird fetish. Now save your money for the sheer awesome that is the swift flight form.
