Was running crypts a few nights ago on my rogue, trying to get those last few bubbles to 70. Our group was me, a 68 mage, 69 warrior tank, druid healer (don't remember lvl) and a 66 hunter. Overall the group was actually good for a pug and we were able to coast through most of the bosses without any real hassle. During one of the breaks while our druid got his mana back up, I thought I'd check out the gear on the hunter just out of curiousity....

Sadly the majority of his gear was shaman spec'd mail all with increase in spell damage!!! Spell Damage, come on it's not as if the spell damage was in little letters....it's the big green letters on the bottom...

So I was curious and asked why he had mostly shaman gear. His reply was simply that it gave him a huge mana pool and that was all that he could get at that level of play. I was kind of taken back since when I was 65/66 on my hunter there was always a decent piece of either mail or leather to choose rather than going with shaman mail. I didn't want to argue with him because I was afraid that he'd be one of those rare hunters that likes to melee every so often.

Needless to say he was a so-so player, but just blew me away that he was so focused on worrying about intellect when all the pieces I picked up while leveling had plenty of +intellect for me.

Eh. Some people choose to play the game without a single thought to find the finer details of their class. It's just unfortunate that those people have to run into the people who care more about doing things the "right" way.

I like to compare it to the losers who wander around society in real life.

My six year old kid plays this game too, he cant read, he doesnt understand English but he still manages to get into groups.

And It's actually a lot more fun than standing somewhere and shooting a bit.

And enfeeble on prince freaks me out now instead of "oh hey.. some people are a funny purple colour"

Early on, I had some serious misconceptions about the game mechanics. If it weren't for Alla and some advice from well seasoned hunters, I'd probably still have them.

Something that Blizzard does not do is explain the game well or any of its basic mechanics. I know they do this because they keep changing the mechanics all the time, however, for players that do not browse the web to up their game or players that buy some book that hand holds them through instances and such- they never really learn the game or stay up to date with changes.

Rather than ding them for their misconceptions, label them Huntard, or what not, send them here. Tell them, "Hey, wanna really kick a$$? Go to wow.allakhazam.com and look up the Hunter forum. Some really great hunters hang out there and share their secrets." From there they can branch out to TKAsomething and EJ if they get hooked on the microgame.

In a matter of a month he'll be in the right gear and go from so-so to good or better. If I can go from 'meh' to holding my own in a group, I know just about anyone can.

I credit the folks here and that includes the likes of Aethien, North, PMidnight, Kompera, Azuarc, Mulgrin et. al. (plenty more, the list is huge!)

Always be positive in trying to correct the issue.
