Ok so I decided to try some arena skirmishes until I can get my computer fixed and a team to jump into.

Skirmishes should help, right?

I'm MM, I have a scorpid with maxed out frost and shadow resist. My resiliance is at 315 (figured ok to start with). My AP is 1961 and my crit is 29.11. I have Proximo.

Holy frickin hell I got my a$$ stomped.

So I sit there before the first skirm started. (I was doing 3v3 and 2v2 - my first was a 2v2) I think to myself, ok lock onto the healer, get the pet locked onto the healer) don't be a noob and forget your traps. Remember to use all your available skills. Blahahahahaha.

The skirmish started and my partner was a lock. All he had time to say was "sha" .. as this gigantic elemental draenei shaman came barreling towards me on a chariot of a elephant and zapped me like he was Thor on crack.

I was a deer. Headlights and a dead deer.

I went down hard.

So I managed to fumble through a few more and was able to kill a mage. Of all things (for me), a mage. I played ring-around-the-pillar with a priest after the priest's partner killed my pet. I felt like an idiot.

The last time I felt this way is when I transfered over from Everquest, made a druid (when healer was the only way to go), and decided to try my first battleground. I ate dirt over and over again.

I think this is going to be fun.

Get a friend, preferably a healer, to make a team with you and just do a lot of games. You'll settle in at a rating with players around your skill level so you'll begin to get competitive games, and over time you'll learn different things. I wouldn't fret over skirmishes too much, especially if you didn't have a partner and just solo queued. Arena is about teamwork, strategy, and class synergy so it's hard to get a good feel for things with random partners of different classes. In skirmishes people will also sometimes play real aggressive since it's not for points.

Aggressive?

LMAO I got toe tagged! :D

I know I need a team. I'm trying hard to push my boyfriend into helping me get one together. Right now, with one computer, we'd have to play at opposite times .. which I don't mind. We've both been trying to gear up for this, so I know he'll be a little upset if I start without him. He has a rogue and a priest geared up for pvp. Right now I only have my hunter. My own priest is having a mid-life crisis (I'm not sure I can stand healing anymore) and my mage has only been PVE.

It's almost all about the gear. Plus, in 2v2, hunter is somewhat difficult to play since there's only 2 people to FF and hunter's have pets which is like .5 of a toon and therefore logistically, you are a prime candidate for FF'ing. Enjoy.

Get a healer, druid specifically, spec 11/41/9 if you arent yet and start pewpewing :P
It's all about teamwork though, and in skirmishes that teamwork is quite often missing.
So if you're a character with some good burst dmg (a.k.a elem sham) you're good to go while in real arena it's nothing like that.

Hunter/druid 2v2 is pretty damn cool yeah Smiley: smile
I had 1 match where we CC'd the warior for the entire 10 minute match while we were killing his druid.
He went from trap to scatter to cyclone to root.

As for my favourite song: Hope Leaves as far as Opeth goes.
Led Zeppelin - Kashmir and Black Sabbath - The Wizard join it if it's over all songs I have.

Wildsimian,

From looking your stats, you should be fine for some arena.
First of all, a skirmish can match you up against players of any level, often which are high end teams who try out a load of skirmishes if they have a new member or trying out something new before their real matches so they don't tank points.

For 2v2s as a hunter, you want a preferably a druid as a partner; priest can be good too, and rogue and warlock can work as well.

I can't really help you with that since I doubt he just 1 shotted you. If you provide more details and specifics next time like play by play then we can help you. But love the Thor on crack part. :P

Try finding yourself a druid buddy and see how it goes.

Good luck,
