Raiding gearFollow

#1 Jul 12 2008 at 8:25 AM Rating: Decent
I read theo's rogue PvP guide and I saw the beautifull [Berserker's call]. Now, altohugh I am a PvP freak, I am in a raiding guild (I never raided myself, although). The reason why I post here is to ask what are the gear requirements for Zul'jin.
Right now I have 1785ap, 60hit rating and 32.50% crit chance (and those are with the +10%ap and +15%agility talents). I will
spec combat (20/41/0 is the raid spec?) if I get accepted.
Also, I have another little question: what is the base miss cahnce against bosses?

Sorry if any of those questions were answered in the FAQ.

Assuming the whole story about +hit is true you're going to need more hit rating to reach the hit cap. The rest sounds alright to me... I recall seeing 2000ap as a requirment for the Black Temple somewhere, could see 1800 working for Zul'aman.

20/41/0 basically is the main combat swords raiding spec, the base miss chance is apperantly said to be 27%.

Hope it helps...

Ummm, it's not a story. To roflmaos - I'm assuming you're in PvP gear, which is a big no-no for ZA. Post up your Armory, that will give us a better chance to give some useful advice. You're going to want your +hit over 300, so 60 isn't going to cut it.

There's no hit rating you "need". Hit rating is better point for point than any other stat except expertise, but that not to say that you should turn down an upgrade that loses you hit.

I sit at 301 hit in my PvE gear, but before that I could have had 330+, but I got upgrades that took my hit all the way down to 220 or so and I was still pushing 1600-1700 DPS in T4/T5 equivalent gear.

Well when you spec combat your ap and crit will both drop drastically, and while hit is not "necessary" your dps against bosses will be extreamly low since you can't really do any dps if your weapons don't end up making contact. I'd suggest at least 240 hit before your relatively geared for a full ZA clear, though you could manage it if the people your going with are easily geared for it.

Unfortunetly getting that much hit you will often times have to sacrifice a good amount of crit and ap. (mostly in that order)

THERE IS NO REQUIRED HIT TO HAVE THE APPROPRIATE GEAR FOR ANY INSTANCE.

EVER.

SHUT THE **** UP WITH THE "HIT REQUIREMENTS".

Other than the 5% from talents and the extra 3% needed for never missing specials on bosses right?

The only "rule" with hit is the more the better, don't go over the cap (look it up I forget specific numbers) and don't gimp yourself in other areas to squeeze out a ton of hit rating.

No, that'd be under the "gearing for DPS" category.

No, the rule with hit rating is that you take it as it comes, gem for it and don't over-prioritize it.

Yeah, I forgot Armory: http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Alonsus&n=Caos If I have less than 1785ap when you check it, it's because the PvP trinket is equiped.
Thanks for the replies, seems like I will have to wait a bit(maybe for the s4 chest piece).
And about the miss question I had, I was thinking at special attacks(forgot to say). So with 5% from precision and almost 4% from the hit rating, will I always hit Zul'jin with yellow demage?

Your gear is nowhere near good enough for Kara, much less ZA.

Is there any particular reason why you don't have neck/wrist/waist gear showing on the armory?

So basically you want to go to ZA with all PvP gear? LOL.

Get some PvE gear. You can raid in pvp gear. You can also play with your tongue, but I wouldn't recommend that either.

He's right about it being fine for Kara, though.

Honestly, people these days. You want an orbital laser to step into a heroic or easy, outdated 10 man.

The only thing of concern is that he seems to be playing eeny meeny miny mo wiht whioh enchant to pick on any given piece of gear. Also green gems.

No, I ASKED if I can, as ZA is nowhere near T6. LOL!
Godofmoo, you can go back in the ****** you crawled out of. I don't know why some people choose to be an *** for no reason.
About the gems, well they're green because that chest piece suck so I won't pay 1000g for 12extra stats I'll be replacing soon. (Note that the helm, wrist and neck have all gems end-game epics). I didn't understand what you said about the enchants, altoguh, but I think it's the same deal as with the gems: some gear deserves an enchant, some not.

If my lazy *** can drop 150g to fill the exact same chestpiece with worthwhile gems, surely you can manage it. Take 15 minutes away from all your PvPing and try a few dailies. Same deal with the shoulders.

And replace the +20 agi on your swords with Mongoose, they'll last you a good long while. (Unless you plan on replacing your OH with the S2 one, of course.)

Respec to combat swords and then come back here with numbers that are relevant. Knowing your crit chance, AP, etc. as subtlety doesn't do us much good. If you want to deduce the relevant numbers yourself without a respec, fine, but I'm personally too lazy to do it for you. You're in dire need of hit rating, too; where you're at it'll easily be the biggest DPS boost for you, point for point.

Green gems in glad shoulders.

30 stam 10 agi enchant on glad legs.

20 agi on swords.

10 stam enchant on chest - 10 stam is bad for everything.

No you're not. You're okay for PVP but the reason why there is PVP gear is because PVE gear doesn't work well against other players. So what do you reckon PVP gear is like against raid mobs?

Answer: not okay.

Go get yourself some PVE gear if you want to do more than daily quests.

Yes, I am. As far as my guild says the minimum requirements are and most sites too.(wowwiki)
My question has been answered here and I now know I am not geared for ZA. Thanks for the replies (most of them, that is).

Wrong on both counts.

PvE gear is often better than PpP gear for PvP as a rogue (and soem other classes) and S2 gear is sufficently good to run Kara.

I'm sure you helped him a lot with this, you smartass. It's ez to say sh*t..and only sh*t, like you did.
To the OP: S4 pieces are pretty decent. If you manage to farm a few heroics you could get some BoJ pieces which will fill your hit rating gap. Combine these(good enchanted and gemmed)with S4 pieces and some crafted items like Belt of Deep Shadow and you're fine to go if your raid members will accept that you need a little item boosting.
