DK starting spec?Follow

I've been molding over a lot of specs and was wondering what you guys thought of my top 3 specs:

46/0/0 deep blood should be a very effective grinding and leveling spec based on all the health/runic power you get upon killing your mob and at 80 would PROBABLY spec something like this:51/20/0

Heres another one I like:0/46/0 this one is more of an instance or sustained dps spec that relies heavily of diseases and summon creatures. Probably this at 80

And finally this one, designed to outlast your opponent and CC them as well... Very good if you happed upon a horde, probably convert to this tank spec at 80.

I would like to see any builds you guys have thought of and your opinions of mine

whats interesting about death knight is every spec seems viable, and while some excel in certain situations, they all are very potent at dealing damage and allowing you to tank.

blood has a lot of healing abilities and i think levelling DKs should most definitely take that as it will greatly reduce your downtime.

i havent really thought of a pvp spec, because i'd really need to see the talents and abilities in action.

For tanking theres not a lot of must have talents, a lot of it can be changed based on playstyle, whether you want single target threat, multi-target threat, aoe magic shield tanking, etc. this class seems overpowered not in terms of the damage and such it can do, but how versatile it is.

I know I wanted to roll a DK to start a tank, but after reading some of the talents at Wowhead I'm leaning strongly towards unholy for the sumons (I like summoning things, sue me) but I'm just wondering how viable Unholy is as a tanking spec?

Unholy looks to be the only not really viable tanking spec as it is, blood offers sick amounts of parrying witch is accented by some talents in frost, but Unholy lacks those capabilities, Unholy looks to be pure raw DPS, Blood looks to be PvP and off-tanking, and frost looks like CC/PvP, and for an MT spec you go frost/blood hybrid, these guys don't look to be as impressive of tanks as all the others against melee, but many talents make them AMAZING against casters, those are just my thoughts.

Deep blood is going to be the DW leveling spec/PvE spec, somewhat deep frost/blood will be the tanking spec and deep unholy looks to be the PvP spec. Its chalk full of strong pvp talents from lichborn to its various diseases as well as the movespeed and resistance buffs it gives.

As for what leveling spec I plan to start with I like this:http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?talent then finish off the last few talents and move into frost or unholy. Thats subject to change based on the feel of the abilities once I play a death knight.

unholy looks like itll be the best anti-magic tank, as well as possessing the ability to really reduce large attacks via bone shield.

whether this will come into play such that it beats what blood or frost has to offer....i cant say.

Judging from what Blizzard said at the WWI, each tree will be able to tank. While they also said not to theorycraft from the alpha builds, I'll still do it. Frost looks to be the best for tanking at the moment. Blood is good for pvp/pve, Unholy i think is going to be the most versatile spec. Unholy Blight basically gives you the opportunity of being able to multi-tank by spamming Blood Boil without spending lots of time trying to apply diseases to all those targets.

And for DPS... drop that dumb *** notion of notion of Dual Wielding. Dual Wielding is going to be for tanking, period. Just look into the frost tree... it has the option for offhand damage increased. Also, the abilities are about putting up debuffs on the target. Frozen Rune weapon on both weapons will mean more threat... Also keep in mind, how many 2handed swords did you see that had +parry, +defense and armor and all that on them? Exactly... But since DKs can now use maces, axes, and swords... that kind of grants them the ability to dual wield all the tank weapons in the game. So it helps them gear out for tanking instead of farming that one instance for that one special 2hand tank weapon drop. Itemization will be easier for them since they're going to have a hard time focusing on parry and def gear. Lot of the tank gear has shield block and block rating on it that does nothing for a DK. DW will be for tanking not DPS.

Another thing, pretty much ALL of the DK's strikes are 60% with some added effect. Heart Strike, Frost Strike, and Plague Strike are the only ones that do more than 60% weapon damage. And Plague strike is the only one that is not a talent. So you'd be wasting a rune on a strike that would deal only 60% weapon damage from a 1h weapon. There's a reason why MS wars use 2handers... You might be able to make some hodge podge spec with DW, but you need to dump at the very least 13 points into Frost. But if you go that route, you should put a lot more since Frost abilities synergize so well with mages. I dont see DW being the top DPS choice but I think it will certainly be a good choice. The problem is that you have to gear for +hit way more than a 2hander.

Unholy and Blood will be close in terms of PvE damage. Plague strike looks like it's going to be the Crusader Strike/MS equivalent for DKs

I wonder if you could go deep blood and do a Dancing rune weapon > heart strike and get the effect of two heart strikes for some ghetto burst damage. If you took away 40% of their health with one hit and were then doing double damage for (up to) the next 20 seconds...but I guess the two heart strikes wouldn't stack, oh well.

it looks like for levelling, youll always want to go 17+x/y/z. Getting butchery and vendetta are both amazing for solo. i have a feeling both will be nerfed, butchery going first cause its possible to hvae 0 downtime by AoE pulling and killing and getting large amounts of health and runic power between fights.

i definitely like the idea of unholy grinding. it seems fun and gives you a lot of utility, along with the ability to permanently have a ghoul out for extra damage if you so choose.

IMO you should take any abillity that activates when "Killin a mob the yield experience or honor", and any talent that speeds up regeneration. Those are classic leveling talents.

I would go something like this:
