Woo-hoo! Let's roll a Rogue!!!Follow

#1 Jul 10 2008 at 10:17 AM Rating: Decent
I love the stickies here, and they've helped me level a powerful 29 twink hunter and 60 warlock.

One thing I notice is a big push for Combat. I think I'll spec combat on Alliance side, and send myself some of the 800+ gold I've accumulated on my lock.

Should I even bother buying my rogue (that I haven't even created yet) some AH items and mail them or are they not very gear dependent?

Here's to some quick leveling tonight!!!

The only gear you need to keep updated as you level is your weapons. You can survive with quest rewards/random drops for gear but you want to keep your weapons updated. But don't bother buying things off the ah.

/agree with spdr

Save your gold for your mounts and (eventually) enchants. Slow mounts suck.

Will do, thanks! Are there any guides that can tell me how to chain quests to maximize xp/hour?

One idea to increase damage output is to find a dagger and put fiery on it for the first 15 levels or, I think it has a chance to do 40 fire damage on strike, which will increase your questing speed significantly at the lower levels.

One option you can do, I started at level 30, is to download Questhelper (or something similar) to show you all the quests on the map and just follow -all- the zones in the (Places > Level chart) found on the above menu bar from allakhazam. You'll get many green and yellow quests if you do this that you can steam roll through (regardless of gear, save weapons).

edit: typo's

I have QHelper, and will use it. My Cartographer wasn't working last time I checked, so I could use a good map mod.

I have 800g, so I will definitely do the fiery enchant!!! Now, I can duel-wield at 10, so should I put it on an offhand weapon? Different enchant? None at all?

I didn't use Cartographer or Questhelper, might have helped but it seemed pretty easy to just look up quests by zone before logging in, making notes about coordinates etc. Pretty easy to do now with all the online resources of info (Alla, WowHead etc). I'd spend maybe 10 min looking things up on average.

Fiery got me to 70, I put it on every weapon I expected to keep for more than 3 levels which becomes more common later in the game. But early on, you can keep a 5 dps weapon and be OMGWTFPWNAGE in PvE for quite a while.

The rogue stickies have tons of good advice for leveling. Happy hunting!

So I should put Crusader and +15 agi on my vendor trash weapons? Okay, will do. Actually, that'd be pretty funny seeing the glows on some gray weapons.

Personally, I've found that www.wow-pro.com has great leveling guides, especially the Jame's guides series, and they're free. Try them out if you're looking for someone to tell you how to chain quests and do questing-circuits.

actually, if you ever plan on leveling a warrior, do it and mail him the crusader weap when your rogue is done with it.

and if you really want to twink out your rogue to start off:

1. get the lowbie engineering goggles
2. get the 10 haste rating libram on em
3. get the 10 haste rating enchant on your gloves

52% haste at level 10 LLOLLL ... scales down to 4% at level 35 though

errrrr apparently you can put the libram on your legs too... enjoy your 76% haste then...

78%

Why do people say this? You level much faster with good gear, kill quicker and have more HP. Dailies are so easy to do on your main, it's pointless to cheap out and save a few gold, grinding your leveling experience to a crawl.

Quest rewards generally suck. Buy good gear on the AH, weapons are most important but gear is important too.

Bought a (white) 1H sword that had Crusader on it in the AH. Freaking awesome when it procs.

I just hit 10, so should I start using 2 weapons, and put a good enchant on the 2nd one?

If you're going for extreme silliness, 15 agi would be my pick. At level 10 that's a huge boon.

Hehe...."boon."

besides feeding greedy people that over price low level greens due to twinking, if he only has 800 gold I'd assume he doesn't have an epic flyer which would be or should be rather, more of a priority.

Dual Lifestealing enchants if you can find somebody that has the formula and you can find the essences of undeath.

It procs a lot and not only will it cause more damage then no enchants but until you get around the 800 HP range you will pretty much find yourself healed to full after each fight.

Crusader's good too but you may find yourself needing to farm live-side Strat for the Righteous Orbs.

If you're gonna go Crusader MH I would go Lifestealing over 15 agi offhand.

I may go LS and +15 agi instead. I like that I can enchant white weapons and pass them on to other toons. I do like some of the stats on particular weapons, however, so I'm up in the air about what to enchant for leveling.

I was the same way before I started using Questhelper. I would write all the quests down, go to alla to get the coords and go at it. It might take 10 minutes or so but didn't seem like to much of a time sink. I downloaded Questhelper and I must say, I would be annoyed to have to look up quest after utilizing this mod. This mod is perfect for leveling up alts. Once you get a quest, it shows up automatically on your map along with a brief description of the goals needed to accomplish the quest. There is no downtime and no comparing of several coords given in forums. You know exactly where to go. Give it a try - definately worth it.

I would suggest only using it for your alts. If this your first time through, enjoy the quests and exploring of the zones. Questhelper would take a little of the adventure out of your first run through Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor.

The biggest bang for your buck in the low levels isn't gear but bag space. Get some 12, 14 or 16 slotters. Those will longer than any gear.

As for gear then keep up on both weapon and gear as you level. The trick is to buy smart. Spending 15g for a piece that gives you 2 more agi is stupid but spending 5g on a piece that gives you 10 is worth it. Don't get the best possible gear for every level. That's a waste of money. However don't go to the other extreme and just use quest gear. Use a happy median. Don't spend too much on gear but spend enough and it's definitely worthwhile.

Yeah, I always buy netherweave bags for my toons right away.

Now that I'm 17, I have Thief's Blade and Buzzer Blade instead of my level 1 and 5 white weapons with Crusader and Fiery. I attack fast and kill more quickly. I also have Cruel Barb waiting for when I hit 19.
